New Instincts

On the Road

The pack had been traveling for a little over a week. They hadn't stayed in one spot for very long hoping to get as much distance between them and the scientists as possible. Initially Namjoon had been nervous about adding Y/N to the pack. Sure, she was now technically a hybrid but she was born a human. This did lead to some obstacles and misunderstandings. She didn't always understand her instincts, and though she was an adult her body was still adjusting to the change in her biology. Which is just a polite way of saying she was going through hybrid puberty.

They had just stopped for a quick break. Y/N had been whining all day claiming that she would die if she didn't bathe soon. They were all currently sitting on the bank of a stream with their backs turned to her. She threatened them with bodily harm if they peeked, and though she was such an adorable bunny, they had learned to fear her wrath.

Namjoon let his mind wander to the revelation he had before their escape. The moment he realized she was their mate. He still hadn't told the others and he certainly hadn't breathed a word about it to y/n. It was bothering him he knew he was being a coward that eventually they would all have to discuss this. He was already on high alert, because as alpha he was able to keep track of his pack and their individual health through the link. She didn't know it yet but her first heat was fast approaching. It was something that both excited him, and frightened him. None of them were anywhere near being romantically involved yet, but he knew that none of them would be able to sit back and watch her suffer.

He was temporarily distracted from his thoughts as he witnessed Taehyung and Jungkook flirting with the little bunny. She was blushing furiously. She had put on the swimsuit Hobi and Jin bought her a few days ago, and was now splashing the two youngest packmates. Namjoon smiled looking at the scene unfolding, when he suddenly felt Yoongi's standing behind him.

"You know I know, right?" He said quietly.

"How long have you known?" Namjoon asked in disbelief. Yoongi laughed

"Since I saw the little bunny launch herself at an armed guard. We have to tell them you know that." They both watch as she chased Jimin around the stream trying to regain her clothes from the petite wolf.

"What if she doesn't understand? What if she rejects us? Humans are usually strictly monogamous, she may be disgusted with idea of having seven mates."

" I don't think you give her enough credit. Even when she was human, she still treated us the same. She always listens to us with an open mind. I'll give you some time but in the end, if you dont tell them, I will."

Yoongi began walking down the hill towards the others he approached Y/N who was having a moment with Hobi.

"Y/N, I am so sorry about everything we had to deal with at the lab, but I'm NOT sorry we met. Cuddles?" Hobi said shifting to a coyote he laid down in the grass. Y/N's small bunny form curled up at Hobi's stomach reveling in his warmth. Yoongi rarely smiled but the sight of his packmates embracing their mate without realizing it put a real smile on his face. He shifted and laid down on he other side of her, just soaking up the sun.

Jin was by the fire cooking a quick lunch. It had been a long time since the pack had been this happy and it was all thanks to Y/N. He looked up the hill toward Namjoon, he knew their alpha was anxious wanting to get on the move quickly. It would be time for him to go gather the others. He couldn't shake the feeling that Namjoon was hiding something from them, whatever it was he was sure he had his reasons.

"Guys lunch is ready! Come and get it while it's hot. Y/N here is your plate."

"But Jinnie, that's way too much food. Why do I have more food than everyone else."

"Because you're precious to us. Just let me take care of you."
