Edward's POV
I opened the door to Bella's house and the first person I saw was Alice, standing by the phone.
"I was just calling you!" Alice whispered.
"Where's Bella?" I asked. Jasper and Emmett walked into the house then and Alice walked towards us, with her arms wide open for Jasper.
"She's sleeping." Alice continued whispering. "So what happened to Jacob?" She asked.
"Let's just say that the trash is at where he belongs." Jasper smirked. "Shall I bring you home? You look tired." He asked Alice.
"Yes please!" She silently squealed. "I'll see you at home tomorrow?" Alice looked at me.
"Yep, tomorrow." I confirmed.
"Emmett, I'm going home too. Bella is fast asleep, it looked like she hasn't been sleeping properly for the past few days." Rosalie commented.
"I will go see her now. Thanks guys." I announced as I walked up the stairs.
"I'll check on her tomorrow." Emmett said to me. I nodded without looking back at him and ran up the stairs. I heard the door close behind me and I realized that everyone had left the house.
I slowly turned the knob to Bella's room and I saw her curled up on her bed. I tiptoed into her room and gently closed the door behind me. I walked to her bed and sat down next to her, pulling the duvet up her body.
She looked so peaceful when she was sleeping, I couldn't help but gawk at her beauty. Her sleeves were rolled up and I saw her bruises a little clearer now. I growled silently as I saw the blue blacks cover almost her whole arm.
Just then, she rolled to her side and her hand gently landed on my knees. I held her hands and stroked it slowly, feeling her soft skin under my hands. How could anyone bear to hurt such a beauty?
I looked over at her bedside table and noticed her favorite book lying on it - Pride and Prejudice. I picked it up and started reading the first few pages when I heard Bella mumble in her sleep.
"Edward..." She was almost inaudible but I caught her saying my name. I smiled as I put the book down and took her hands in mine.
I waited for her to say something more and true enough, she started talking again after a few seconds.
"Edward...." She mumbled and I smiled again. "I.. Love.."
I leaned in closer to hear the end of her sentence but she didn't finish it. I sighed and stroked her hair, still grinning about the fact that she thinks of me even when she's asleep.
Suddenly, I felt her move under my hand and I retreated immediately. Too late, she had already woken up.
"I'm so sorry." I whispered as Bella started sitting up.
"It's okay." She smiled. "You're back."
"Yeah, came back not too long ago." I smiled back at her. "How are you feeling?"
"Better than before." She leaned towards me and collapsed on my chest. "Freaking tired though." She mumbled.
"You should sleep." I said.
"Mhhm."
The thought of Bella sleeping on me thrilled me. The girl of my dreams, the love of my life was sleeping on me and I had the liberty to hug her to sleep. I was the luckiest guy alive!
I wrapped my arms around Bella and I felt her breathing ease into a steadier pace. I pulled the blanket up and let it cover the both of us as I leaned forward to kiss the top of her head.
