A love story Inspired by the show Yellowstone. After being away for years May Dutton, a paramedic, meets Ryan, a cowboy that works on her family's ranch.
May walks up to the front porch of the house, she stops for a second to brace herself for the storm to come. As she walked towards the dining room she heard Jamie's voice and it sent a wave of anger over her, all the feelings she thought she let go of a long time ago came rushing back to the surface. "May come sit by me and dad" lee called out. Without acknowledging Jamie May kisses John on the head and sits by lee. She turns a smiles at John and lee then continues to look straight down at her lap. "You okay?" Lee asks "Yeah, why?" "Because you look like you're about to shit your pants" he chuckles. She gives him an annoyed look and the room goes silent, the awkward silence was so loud she felt like screaming at that very moment. "Hey May, it's so good to have you back, I've missed you a lot" Jamie says breaking the silence. May felt the anger rush over her again, she didn't know why she was still so angry but in that moment she didn't care, she slowly looked up and stared blankly into his eyes you could cut the tension with a knife. "Yup! and that was about thirty seconds, that's gotta be some kind of record for you two, I mean you usually start screaming at each other the moment you are in the same room" lee interrupts and starts laughing. May completely disregards what just happened it's quiet for moment before she asks "where's kayce?" She could tell from her brothers reaction to that question that something was wrong. "Kayce no longer lives here May" John says, "why, what happened?" She asked "I asked him to leave, he stopped obeying what I said and I wasn't going to put up with it, not under my roof" May could tell there was more to the story and with her fathers history she knew there was a reason Kayce left and it wasn't simply because he was asked to leave. "Yeah I'm sure that's what happened" she says under her breath, "excuse me?" He asked, "I don't know daddy you just have a tendency to send your kids away when they aren't up to your standards" "May I'm just trying to have dinner with my kids, can you just be civil for once and stop trying to fight everyone" "Tell me what happened, I deserve to know" "He got a girl pregnant and when I told him to take her to a clinic he refused so I told him to leave". May stands up, throws her napkin down and leaves. "Well that went well" lee says under his breath before getting up to leave too.

Lee walks out of the house to find May sitting on the porch. "Seems like every time I sit at that dinner table I get into an argument with him". "I don't think the table is the problem" lee says as he sits next to her. "You think I'm the problem?" "No, not necessarily. You have a lot to be angry about, I don't blame you for getting mad" "He just so stubborn and he thinks he can dictate what we do with our lives. He's going to drive all his kids away." She stops to take a deep breath to keep herself from getting to worked up. "He had no right to do that to Kayce is all I'm saying" "Yeah, you're right. But he was only trying to do what he thought was best for him, even if he was wrong in the end. You gotta understand that everything he does is for us, I know it's hard to believe right now but he just wants to protect us." Lee puts his arm around her and May rests her head on his shoulder. "You know you are the only person in this family that hasn't hurt me" "I'm your brother, that's my job" She laughs, "tell that to Jamie" "Look if you really can't stand to be in the same house as him I have a pretty shitty couch in my cabin that's always open for you, the bed is mine though, I love you, but not that much." May laughs "whatever jerk....thank you"
