The next morning May woke up alone in the bunkhouse. She knew the wranglers start their days early so she wasn't worried about it. As she made her way up to the cabin she saw Ryan and Kayce in their vests packing rifles into the car. "Hey, I didn't want to wake you, it seemed like you didn't get much sleep last night" Ryan said walking up to May. "Yeah I figured you started early. What's going on here?" She asked gesturing to the guns they were packing. "Oh it's nothing, just checking up on a case of stolen cattle. You know, Routine stuff."

"You need Assault rifles for routine stuff?" She laughed nervously, "its just precaution May" Kayce chimed in. Growing up with her dad as livestock commissioner and lee as an agent always made her nervous. She knew that it was just as dangerous as any other job in law enforcement and now having not only another one of her brothers in it but now Ryan is someone she deeply cares about. "Well be careful okay?" Said warily, "yeah I always am" he smiled, Kayce started the truck indicating that it was time to get going, "hey I'll see you later okay?"

"Yeah, okay." He gave her a kiss before jumping into the truck. She watched as they drove away, May has never felt this nervous before. That terrified her, because she knew that could only mean one thing and she didn't know if she was ready to feel that way again.

May walked into the main house trying to grab something quick to eat without being seen but instead she ran into Monica and Tate. "Hey, happy Halloween" Monica said walking into the kitchen with Tate. "Shit is that today? Oh fuck- I mean- sorry..."

"It's fine he hears worse from his father" she laughs, "my mom too" Tate chimed in, "anyways...yeah, you're the third person who's said that, do you guys not celebrate?"

"It's been a while since there's been kids here, so not really" May said.

"Yeah and it seems like there's no trick or treating around here either." May scrunched her nose, "yeah no. You'd have to drive into town for that. But you know what? On the years we couldn't go trick or treating, we'd have the best Halloween parties ever, we bought loads of candy, watched scary movies and Gator makes the best mummy dogs. So what do you say kid? Are we partying tonight?"

"Hell yeah!" He smiled, "Tate language" Monica said. May couldn't help but laugh, "alright well I got some shopping to do then, I'll see you later."

After getting ready for the day, May left for the store. When she pulled on to the main road she noticed a truck with tinted windows sitting near the driveway of the ranch. She stopped in the middle of the road, trying to see who it was but the truck sped off in the other direction before she could see who it was.

Meanwhile, Kayce, Ryan, and other livestock agents pulled up to the house of a suspected cattle thief. They all get out of the trucks. "You see the brands?" Agent Hendon said indicating that they were the stolen cattle they were looking for. "I did" Kayce said walking up to the door. "Livestock officer, open up" He said after knocking, after no response he knocked again more aggressively. He heard panicked movements inside causing him to draw his weapon, "watch the front, I'll take the back" he says to Ryan as he starts circling the house, "get off the wall" he said quietly, "what?"

"Get off the fucking wall" he repeated, Ryan did what he was told as they both circled around the corner, "turn your chest to the wall." Ryan turned just in time to take a shot to the chest, knocking him on his back. Kayce takes this time to fire back, the suspect then shoots at agent hendon before trying to escape through the back door. As soon as he opens the door Kayce fires at him, killing him.

After checking for other shooters, he goes back to check on Ryan who is still on the ground gasping for air, "you gonna live?" Kayce pulls off his vest which helps Ryan catch his breath, "I told you to turn your chest to the wall, if that had hit you in the side, we'd be scooping you into a body bag with a shovel"
