May wakes up early the next morning to find Lee sitting out on the porch drinking coffee. "Look who's up bright and early" May laughs "I forgot that everyone on this ranch wakes up at the asscrack of dawn"
"Did you get enough sleep?"
"Yeah, I was exhausted after all of the melodrama. Sorry about that by the way"
"Don't apologize. I cleared out most of my stuff in the office, we just need to take out the desk and then you can make it your own"
"Thank you lee. I don't think I could survive here without you"
"Well of course, I'm amazing" lee laughs. "Shut up idiot I'm serious"
"I know. You want to come down to work with us? We're doctoring today"
"No, I actually have work today"
"Really? You already have a job here"
"Yeah turns out that paramedics are in high demand when you live in the middle of fucking nowhere"
"Well are you coming to watch me rodeo tonight?"
"You're still doing that?"
"Are you kidding?" May laughs. "Well is dad going to be there?" Lee looks at her with a discerning look before standing up, "you can't avoid him forever May. Plus you need to go to show support for your favorite older brother." May let's out a sigh, "well I can certainly try"
"I'll see you there" lee says as he walks away.

May is always nervous when starting a new job, she didn't like having to get to know new people. Especially getting to know a new partner, the most important thing in EMS is trusting your partner and May is never ready to open up to a complete stranger in that way. May walks up to the fire station, she felt like a kid on the first day of school, nervous but also excited. She walks up to a firefighter organizing some gear, "are you the new paramedic?" He asks. "Yeah, I'm looking for Andrew Wagner"
"Oh I'll go get him for you ma'am"
"Thank you", after a couple of minutes a very enthusiastic man burst through the door with the biggest smile on his face, "May Dutton?"
"Yes?" May says a little startled from his enthusiasm.
"Andy Wagner" he says as he holds out his hand, May offers her hand out, mid shake he pulls her in close and looks her dead in the eye, "I will die for you May Dutton" he pulls back, "I'll always have your back partner" he says as he pounds one fist to his chest. May still flustered, "Oh......likewise" she let out a slight chuckle. "So shall we get started? Gosh we have so much to talk about, and I have so many questions, there's so much to show you. I'm so excited. Let's go!" He rambled off as he starts to walk away. May is desperately trying to keep up, while also thinking about how this is her worst nightmare.

After a pretty boring shift with Andy asking question after question, May finally got home. She had never gone through a whole shift without getting one call, working in Montana was nothing like Chicago, where her aunt Clara lived and where she started as a paramedic. Nevertheless she was exhausted, she slumped down onto Lee's bed. "Get up we're leaving in five", May lifts her head, with one eye barely squinting open and the other shut. "What?" May asked sluggishly. "The rodeo?" Lee said, May groans and plops her head into the pillow. "You're going. Now get up, and brush your hair. I don't need people thinking you're homeless". After a couple of minutes May walks out of the cabin fixing her dress when she runs into Ryan.
"Oh! Sorry! sorry I was just looking for you"
"You found me" May says in an awkward tone.
"Listen I just want to apologize for yesterday, I didn't  mean to pry"
"Oh no, you don't need to apologize, really. I'm sorry, I was being  dramatic"
"Still, I'm sorry" Ryan turns to walk away but stops mid way, "I go down to a bar near Bozeman every Friday night to sing. They have karaoke night every Friday and a lot of cover bands like to go to perform. No one really knows that about me, not even my family and definitely not any of the guys from the bunkhouse, I'd never hear the end of it" Ryan laughs. "I just thought it would make you feel better to know something about me", May smiles "that's really cool" she says sincerely. "It embarrassing" Ryan says with a smile. May sees lee heading towards his truck, "hey are you coming with us?" May says changing the subject. "Yeah, you riding with Lee?" May nods her head and smiles while walking towards the car. When May walks up to the car lee gestures her towards the back. Ryan and May get into the back seat. "May this is Ryan he works here, Ryan this is my sister" they both nod and smile like they haven't met before. "Who are we waiting for?" May asks.
"Dad" May let's out a sigh, Lee gives her a look through the rear view mirror. A couple of minutes go by and John gets in the car. "Ready?" Lee asks. "Yeah, let's go" John says putting on his seat belt. He looks back and sees May sitting behind lee. "Nice to finally see you May"
"Been a bit busy dad"
"Yeah well how was your first day?" May gives him a confused look. "There's not much that goes on in this valley that I don't know about. Plus I know the fire commissioner, I was his first call when you got the job"
"It was fine" May said annoyed, the rest of the car ride was silent.

As they were walking  into the arena, they run into Jamie. Ryan gave May a concerned look, remembering the conversation they had the day they met. "I already bought everyone's tickets" Jaime said giving a concerned look to John like he was surprised May would be there, "cool I'm going to get checked in" lee says as he pats Jaime on the back, "please be civil" he said under his breath as he passed May. Jamie looks May up and down, "a sundress? to a rodeo?"
"Well I ain't the one riding Jaime" May said aggressively, she grabbed her ticket from his hands and walked in without them. "You're putting fuel on an already well lit fire son" John said
"I'm going to get a drink" Ryan interrupts grabbing his ticket, following May in.
