A love story Inspired by the show Yellowstone. After being away for years May Dutton, a paramedic, meets Ryan, a cowboy that works on her family's ranch.
May ran down to the barn excited because her best friend had promised he'd teach her to play cards. She walked into the little room that he slept in with the cards in hand, "you Better be ready to lose all your money because I'm a fast learner-" She stopped when she saw him crouched over covering his face. "What happened?" She said as she sat next to him, "I'm fine, I just fell" "Falling doesn't do that Luke." He had a busted lip, bloody nose, and a pretty good shiner. "It was one of those cowboys again wasn't it? I swear, if it were up to me-" "But it's not! There nothing you can do to stop it, so just leave it alone." May put her hand on his cheek and he turned to look at her, "I would do anything to stop it." Luke's eyes softened, he suddenly had no control over his body, he leaned in and kissed her. It was May's first kiss, it took her by surprise. She didn't think Luke liked her in that way and until that moment she didn't think she did either, but that magical moment changed everything.
"Hey daddy," May said walking into the lodge's kitchen. "Hey sweetheart, what are you doing here?" "I'm borrowing a couple of things, honestly I don't know how Lee survived all that time living alone, I do everything and I don't always have the time to go grocery shopping." She said going through the fridge for eggs, "Well hunny, I think it's easy to forget when I pay someone to do that for us" "Hey, I agreed to have dinner over here but I still need food the rest of the day. Where's the brown sugar?" John shrugged his shoulders, "what are you making?" "Cookies" she said rummaging through cabinets. Gator walked into the kitchen looking very stressed about May making a mess of his stuff, "uh, is there anything I can help you find Miss?" "Brown sugar?" She asked, "oh! And chocolate chips?" Gator gives her what she needs, "thanks" "What are you making cookies for?" John asked. "I don't know, I just felt like it" she smiled. "Alright hunny." May started heading out the door when John stopped her, "May wait. I wanted to ask you about your brother" "Which one?" "Lee. Who's this girl he's been...seeing?" "Oh! Elaina, and "seeing" is a strong word, they've known each other for a couple of days. She's...different." "Different how?" "Just different, And extremely out of his league. Oh but you're going to love her, I think your personalities will go together so well" she said sarcastically. "See you later daddy."

After making cookies May took them down to the bunkhouse for Ryan. All the wranglers went quiet when she walked in, "is Ryan here?" She asked. "Yeah he's in the bathroom" Lloyd said, "okay thanks. I made cookies if y'all want some" she said putting them on the table. Ryan walked out of the bathroom only wearing a towel, May just about fell to her knees. The wet hair. The towel. "Jesus" she thought, "hey" she said giving him a kiss. "hey" he smiled, "I was just about to go see you" "There's some cookies that I made over-" she turned to see the plate completely empty, "there were cookies over there" she laughed, "there were about twenty cookies guys, what the hell?" "Oh those weren't going to last long with Jake in the room" Ryan laughed, "so we're going out tonight, care to join us?" "It's Monday" "yeah we're mourning the weekend" he laughed, "yeah sure" "Just keep it quiet though. There's this new hire, she talks so much and the boys don't want her to come." May gave him a grimacing smile, "Lainey?" "Yeah...what is it May?" "It's just that Lee really likes her, and she seems really nice..." "May no" he whined, "just be nice to her okay? Give her a chance, for me?" She said cupping his cheeks, "okay fine." "Thank you" she said giving him a kiss on the cheek, "I'll meet you here in a bit alright?" "Yeah yeah"
When May got down to the bunkhouse, they were all already getting in the cars to head out. When she walked up to Ryan she saw that he was covered in dirt. "Didn't you just shower?" "I don't want to talk about it" he said, "his horses stall door is broken, he had to chase it around the barn to get it back in" Ethan laughed. "Let's just go, I don't have time to change" he said annoyed. "Hey Lainey, you and Lee should ride with May and Ryan. It's gettin' kind of cramped in her" Colby said giving Ryan an annoyed smile. "They are not happy with me" Ryan whispered, "because you invited her? Thats a little rude don't you think?" "You didn't have to spend eight hours fixing a fence with her."
When they drove up to the bar Ryan recognized it immediately, "this isn't where we usually go" he said, "I was just following them, why is it a problem?" May asked. "I really hope not." When they went in they all went their separate ways, Ryan looked uneasy. "You okay?" May asked, Before he could answer a man came up behind him and put his arm around him, "Hey Ryan, I didn't know you were singin' tonight." Suddenly, May knew exactly why he was so uncomfortable there. "No, Just blowing off some steam. I'd appreciate if you don't try to bring me up on that stage later Ron." He looked around at the other wranglers and nodded his head, "I got you brother" he said shaking his hand, "and who might this be?" He said taking off his hat. "This is May, she's my uh..." "I'm his girlfriend" she said shaking his hand, "My girlfriend. Ronnie, this is my girlfriend" he restated. "Hello May, Ryan's girlfriend. I'm Ron, I play with Ryan when he's not playing cowboy" "It's nice to meet you" May laughed. "Well I got to go, I'm on next. Holler if you change your mind" "I won't" "It was really lovely to meet you" he said tipping his hat to May before walking away. "So...if you're my girlfriend, does that make me your boyfriend?" Ryan said putting his arms around her waist. "Oh I believe it does" she smiled, "I like the sound of that" Ryan said kissing her, she wrapped her arms around his neck, pulling him closer to her. Colby walked up to the bar, "hey, Next round is on me, I'll take a shot of whiskey and They'll have-" he turned to see Ryan and May making out against the bar, "they're fine" he said to the Bartender with a disgusted look on his face.
⚠️ Authors note ⚠️: When I say that I SCREAMED when that scene with Ryan in the first episode happened, I'm not exaggerating. All I'm gonna say is I hope Abby stays for a while, I love them. Anyways, this whole "Luke" thing...Just trust me okay? It's going to be fine 😅
