Dean's POV

"So Dean, how's it feel to be the younger half of an openly gay imaginary couple?" Bella asked micheviously, high-fiving Lisa and then Jo.

"How does it feel to.... shut up!" Dean floundered.

Jo shook her head lightly, and smiled at Benny as he walked over to them. "Hey guys." He said, his accent seeping through his words.

"Hey, Benny." Ash responded, scooting over to accommodate the bear of a teenager.

"Dean," he said with a brief nod.

Things had become more tense between the two used-to-be inseparable boys since New Years Eve. The group of friends had spent the night together in Bella's father's basement. They had their own New Years party, and when the ball dropped, everyone had somebody to kiss. Some involuntarily.

Lisa kissed Ash, when Ash wanted to kiss Jo and Dean wanted to kiss Lisa. Jo had kissed Bella who wanted to kiss Benny. And Benny had kissed Dean who wanted his bisexuality secured tightly under lock and key.

That wasn't meant to happen, and Dean, wasn't meant to accidentally kiss him back. But it did. And he had. And then, Dean had reacted badly, pushing him away and yelling, "Dude, I'm not interested!" embarrassingly loud. Benny, obviously, had his feelings hurt. And now there was a shitload of... well... shit between them.

"Benny." Dean answered just as coolly.

Jo cleared her throat, cutting the uneasiness in half and started to say something about her genius when a particularly intense blue eyed beauty approached their table cautiously. Jo looked up first, smiling warmly at Castiel. "Hey Castiel." She said happily, a small hint of concern in her eyes.

"Hello, Jo." He said with a smile that seemed fake.

"Do you want to sit?" She asked cheerfully.

Castiel smiled lightly, and this one seemed more genuine. "Yeah, man, you can sit." Dean said, scooting away from Jo so he could sit between them.

Castiel looked very tempted to agree, but he peeked over his shoulder at his previous table. And shook his head. "Better not, but thank you, anyway. I, um, came to talk to you, Dean. We need to sort this situation out. But, I also came to apologize for Meg."

Dean set his burger down on the yellow cafeteria tray, and shook his head laughing. "Our... whatever this is... is just fighting and apologies." He said.

Castiel chuckled, and then honest-to-god smiled. "I suppose you're correct, Dean." He agreed. He nodded to the others, and then gave personal goodbyes to Jo and Dean. Then, he walked back the way he had come, and sat down next to Meg.

She was frowning harshly and Castiel seemed to be fighting vigorously for her attention. When she finally looked at him, he said something that made her smile and then hug him. And man, the feeling that shot up in Dean's chest, sure did feel like jealousy.

"You looked like you'd known him a while." Dean said to Jo, realizing too late that the topic had shifted from Cas to Mrs. Lane's impossible geometry test.

Jo quirked an eyebrow at him, and then nodded. "His mom and my mom used to be friends." Jo said.

"Used to be?" He asked. Ellen didn't get angry easily, Castiel's mom must have seriously upset her.

Jo coughed like she was choking and then looked up and then down and all around, mouth opening and closing much like a fish. "Um, his mom... uh... this isn't my business to share." She argued.
