Dean's POV
Sam was sitting on the couch when Dean came down the stairs at around 7:30 that morning. Sam's head was resting against the cushions he had stacked up on top of the others, and he was staring up at the TV that was playing a rerun of GhostFacers. Dean walked past the couch and started into the kitchen for a bowl of cereal before Sam spoke.
"How'd your stay with Cas, Jo, and Charlie go?" He asked and watched as Dean frowned and turned around to face him.
"Cas got kind of mad at me, and Charlie and Jo are fighting." Dean explained.
"I'm sorry." Sam said. Dean came back over to the couch and sat down. "What happened?"
"You know Alistair?"
"The kicker for the team?" Sam questioned turning the TV volume down and then rotating to look at him.
"Yeah," Sam nodded and Dean continued, "well, he's a douche, especially to me and Cas. And last night, he told Cas that I wasn't really, you know, his boyfriend, and that I told him something pretty private about Cas."
"I'm really sorry, Dean."
"But I talked to him a little bit, and he seemed, well, less mad."
"Thats good, you know, it's--" Sam's phone vibrated, and he smiled when he looked at the sender. "Hold on one second. It's Gabe." Dean rolled his eyes and went into the kitchen for his breakfast when he heard Sam's phone hit the floor. "Dean, oh my god, we have to go get him." Sam was in panic mode, standing and grabbing his jacket off the hook by the door. Dean caught up to him, took his shoulder, and pulled him back into the house before he darted out the door.
"What's wrong?" Dean asked tersely.
Sam's face was pale and he had tears in his eyes, "Gabe said something bad just happened, and he said there's a lot of blood. We have to go." Dean's mouth went dry, and he felt as though fear would cripple him.
Please, Cas. Please be okay.
"Sam, if mom or dad wake up and see you gone, they'll freak. Let me go."
"No, I'm not letting you go without me." Sam said crossing his arms across his chest.
Dean sighed, and took his jacket off the hook as well, and pushed Sam through the door, closing it quietly behind him. Sam got in the Impala, and Dean drove them to Castiel's house, which Sam had never been to.
The smell of blood was strong the moment Dean lulled open the door. Dean went inside first and saw a woman with blonde hair tied in a ratty ponytail scrubbing a large red puddle of blood out of the floor.
"Holy shit." Dean muttered and the woman looked up.
"What-- who are you?" She asked. Sam looked out from behind Dean and gasped quietly.
"I'm Dean Winchester and this is my brother Sam. Where's Castiel?"
"And Gabe?"
The woman's eyes softened and she looked towards a small door in the corner of the room. "I sent Gabriel upstairs. He's alright, he isn't hurt. But, Cassie..." she looked down at the reddish, pink floor and shivered. "Chuck took him to the hospital."
"What happened?" Dean snapped, bile rising in his throat.
"I don't really know. Far as I can tell, Castiel came down stairs, and Michael was upset and took it out on him."
"Can I go see Gabe?" Sam asked Dean anxiously.
Dean looked back to the woman who had begun to scrub furiously at the floor again. "Yeah, be safe." he said and Sam dashed up the stairs. "Do you know what hospital?" Dean wondered catiously.
"Lawrence Memorial Hospital." She murmured. Dean looked to the door and then went upstairs to get Sam. Sam and Gabriel were standing in the middle of the hallway, and Sam's arms were wrapped protectively around Gabriel's shoulders. Gabe looked like he was crying, but Dean couldn't be sure.
"Sam, we have to go check on Cas." Dean told him briskly. Sam snapped his gaze to Dean in his signature bitch-face. "Gabriel can come too." Dean allowed rolling his eyes.
"C-can I come?" A small voice asked from a bedroom across from Castiel's. Samandriel peeked his head around the corner of the door and it was clear he had been sobbing.
"Of course." Dean agreed, and the boy ran to hug Dean's legs.
"Cassie will b-be okay, right?"
"Sure he will."
Luci followed him slowly out of the room and looked at Dean thankfully. "I'm coming too. I have to get out of here. I can.. I can smell it." She told him softly. Dean nodded and started down the stairs, smiling mildly when he felt Samandriel's hand slip into his. He figured he reminded Alfie of Castiel, and that that was comforting to him.
The group piled into the car - Sam, Gabe, and Alfie in the back with Luci sitting shotgun next to Dean who drove to the hospital listening as Gabriel explained what had happened. He had seen what went on from the top of the staircase. He had been coming downstairs to get breakfast, but stopped when he saw Michael holding Cas up by his shirt. Unable to do anything, he only watched as Chuck and Maggie burst from their room downstairs. Watched as Maggie hurried to help. Watched, as Chuck stood by the kitchen table, unmoving.
Dean sped up to about 20 over the speed limit, and they made it to the hospital in no time. They went inside, but the nurse at the front wouldn't let them into Castiel's room. He was in the ICU.
This was really bad.
