Dean's POV
"Excuse me, are you family?" A short older woman who had dark black hair and tiny blue eyes. She had a smile and very pointed features, and she looked incredibly nice.
"Oh, no, I'm his boyfriend." Dean said standing up, he felt Castiel's fingers twitch slightly at the lack of Dean's warmth, but the heart monitor didn't pick up at all.
She smiled and went to give him a hug. "I'm so glad he's found someone." She said squeezing him tight.
"Uh, yes, thank you." Dean said.
"Oh, I apologize," she pulled away, "I'm LeAnn Novak. His mother was my daughter."
"He's your grandson?" Dean asked quietly.
She nodded and smiled again. "I'm so proud of him. When he wakes up, he'll be put under my care until he turns 18. I... I had no idea this was happening. Violet was adopted by that wretched Naomi and her horrid husband, Zachariah, when she was around 8. I had a few problems when I was younger. I had her when I was only 16, and had some sort of a mental break. I spent some time in Sunny Oak, but I got out and they told me that her foster parents had filed to adopt her. I hadn't seen her until her funeral. That's where I met my precious boy. As far as I know, he's never called Naomi his grandmother." She shook her head and muttered, "That isn't what's important." She ran her fingers through Castiel's hair gently. "We became quick friends, and he came to see me a few times without telling his father and I kept him until they came for him. He called me a day or two ago and explained the situation he was in, so I started driving from New York to get to him. I just got in and Lucia told me that he was here." She said. "I made a few calls, and my lawyer is drawing up some papers. I'm going to try and get Castiel and his brothers and sister." She cleared her throat, "Have you stayed with him the whole time?"
"Most of it, yeah. They keep him pretty medicated, I don't know that he could wake up, if he wanted to. If he could, he'd be kind of high, I think." Dean said to her as she pulled a chair close to Castiel's bed. Dean sat back down in his chair and picked up Castiel's hand again.
"What happened?"
"I'm really not sure. I wasn't with him when it happened. We just stopped fighting the night before. I was going to take him to dinner, but then this happened." LeAnn nodded and stroked his hair once more. "He's head is really messed up."
"I wish he'd been with me." She murmured.
"Yeah, me too."

Castiel's POV
Cas frowned as he stirred sauce and his mother cut onions for their meal. She smiled over at him and continued chopping vegetables. "Are you okay, honey? You seem a little down lately." She said.
"Just thinking." Cas answered. Violet nodded and left it at that until dinner. Michael was home, and Chuck had just gotten in from work. They all gathered around the table to eat dinner when Chuck asked Castiel to say grace.
Cas watched as everyone bowed their heads, and he opened his mouth to pray, but he found no words came to him. Michael peeked over at him and raised his eyebrows. "Thank you God for the meal and bless this household." Michael mumbled and Cas quickly jumped in with the 'amen.' Violet and Chuck looked up at him and Violet pursed her lips and picked up her fork.
"Thank you Michael, but I asked Castiel to say the prayer." He said staring straight at Cas. "It seems he's too big of a faggot to even pray now." Chuck sighed taking a bite of his Castiel felt his chest deflate and he felt a sad sort of empty knot up his insides.
