Castiel's POV
Cas was sitting in a garden. The colors were beautiful and so strong. The grass was vibrant green, the flowers sparkling red, and the sky was a bright wondrous blue. He was standing in the middle of a field, all alone, but he didn't feel lonely. He started to walk.
The scene changed as he walked from the extravagant fun colors to a slightly less exciting street. The road was black as night, and farmiliar. He halted when he saw the house in front of him. It was purple, but there was only one car in the driveway, and it wasn't his. He winced and reached up to grab at his head as a stab of pain surged through it. He started for the door of his house, and his fingers found the curve of the door handle expertly.
When the door opened, and he stepped inside, the house smelled nice. Sweet almost. Like cookies. It was quiet except for a light humming coming from the kitchen. Cas took hesitant steps forward expecting Maggie or maybe even Michael. He braced himself for something, braced himself for everything, except for what he saw.
Castiel's mother, Violet, was taking a tray of cookies from the oven and looked up, smiling at him. Cas stopped in his tracks and stared at her. He hadn't dreamed of his mother in years. A laugh trickled out of her mouth like music and she set the pan down on a hot pad on the counter. "Well come over here and eat one while they're still warm, sweetheart." She said.
Castiel's breath caught in his throat as he looked at her, searching her face for any sign that this wasn't real. This couldn't be happening. He was there when she died. She couldn't be alive. She'd been dead for years. But she looked right, exactly like he remembered her. She had on a pastel yellow dress that was a stark contrast to her dark wild hair, and a welcoming, friendly smile.
"Castiel, honey, are you alright?" She asked, smile falling as she stepped around the counter.
Violet was pregnant.
Just like that bad day. That really, really bad day. She had been pregnant when she died. It was a little girl, but she was unable to be born as they weren't at a hospital, so she died roughly fifteen minutes after Castiel's mother. She came over to him and put one hand on his shoulder, and put the other over his forehead. Checking his temperature. "Are you feeling okay? You're home early from school." Cas couldn't force words from his mouth. "Why didn't you call me?"
Cas didn't say anything, he just took a step forward and hugged her. She stood still for a second, suprised, but quickly recovered and wrapped him up quickly in her arms. She rubbed his back soothingly, and before he could even register what was happening, he was crying because his mom was here. She was here. Alive.
"Honey, its okay. I'm right here, its okay." She said calmly. She had no idea how long he'd waited to hear those words. She gave him a tight squeeze and then he pulled away and wiped harshly as his eyes. He cringed again as another pain rose sharply up his body and out his head like a spike. It quickly numbed and he felt okay again as he looked at his mother. "What's the matter?" She asked softly.
"Nothing. It's just... I haven't seen you in a while." He said, his voice was tight and kind of slow.
Violet chuckled. "Honey, I drove you to school this morning." His face must have been confused as she added, "Dean isn't in town and your car is in the shop."
"You know Dean?" Castiel asked, shocked.
She laughed again and shook her head as she headed back into the kitchen. "Of course, that boy practically lives here." Cas looked around the house quickly. Minor things were different.
There was a long brown leather sofa where the small faded pink loveseat would've been, and a glass coffee table sat in the middle of the room instead of a plastic toy bin they had been using. There was a family photograph hanging on the wall, but it wasn't complete. There was Chuck, Violet, Michael, and Castiel, but where were Luci, Gabriel, and Alfie. He narrowed his eyes and looked atl the floor. There wasn't blood in the grout or anywhere else, for that matter, and there were small pictures hung on the refrigerator that Cas had never seen before in his life.
