Secrets Hidden Within: The Unexpected Betrayal

Chapter 8

Melissa's POV

After the doctor left with Bridget I was left with Luke ,who kept stealing glances of me then  looking away whenever I'd look back at him.  If it weren't for him being in the hospital covered in bandages around his  forehead I'd say he looks really cute right now.....

Hold up why am I even having this stupid thought? I don't like that dude that much. Sure he saved my life at school that doesn't mean anything at all.

Pshhhh in fact dude is not even my type. Honestly, yes he has perfect hair, perfectly white teeth , his eyes are like crystals but brown and has that smile that makes my stomach feel all fuzzy inside when he looks at me but it doesn't mean anything at all.

As I was debating with myself mentally in my head I could hear Luke sigh heavily so I looked over at him. Worry was written all over his face.

" You know when the doctor asked me what I remembered I thought I knew what happened but as soon as I opened my mouth to speak I had forgotten everything. The fact that I don't even know who you are , heck know who I am is just too much. You say I was involved in a really bad car accident,and you showed me the pictures of the car too but here I am with nothing but a head injury." Luke says.

" So you seriously have no idea who you are or what happened to you? And you're saying you knew what happened but now you don't? " I responded trying to put together what he said.

" Yeah I mean when the doctor put a mask on my face before I spoke I knew what happened but after she removed it I just..... I don't know,maybe I'm overthinking this."

I was confused by what he said and I wanted to ask but I could tell he wasn't comfortable about it so I didn't push any further. We say there in silence then he finally spoke again...

" Why do I keep feeling like you and I are more than just friends? The way "my family " tensed up when they saw you were in here, especially Bridget kinda made it obvious." He said chuckling.

Well that was unexpected. " You mean to tell me that you're out here looking stressed and are sighing just to ask me that question?" I asked laughing. " Anyways to answer your question you and I used to date in high school but your parents said I was a bad influence on you blah blah blah, long story short we broke up".

With one eyebrow raised he just looks at me and says " I may have lost my memory but even I know that's not it. We can't just simply break up because my mother said you're a bad influence on me. What happened??"

I took one deep breath and started telling him how we broke up, the story of how we used to do pg rated stuff a lot, oh and how I cheated on him with his older brother Tyler, nothing major. Luke and I kept our relationship a secret from everyone so I wonder how his family ended up finding out we were Dating, well more like friends with benefits but whatever. After telling him this he just said he was tired and wanted to rest. I respected that I left. Anyways visiting hours were over so I took my stuff and left, with tears streaming down my face.

I said my goodbyes to his family that was by the hospital reception but only his dad responded with a smile, which took  me off guard  because the man barely looks at me under normal circumstances. Bridget kept looking at me with a look I couldn't read and her mother was just shooting daggers at me. This is one strange family.
