Chapter 4: The Argument

They got into the car and they left. Rebecca came with them too just so she can visit plus give a briefing on what happened. It was awkwardly silent until Luke's dad decided to break the ice.

" I knew it was too good to be true. I knew that I couldn't trust you and believe that you can keep a clean reputation in that university. I mean your entire high school life was a disaster, this just shows that chaos follows you wherever you go. You have brought shame upon this family...." He gets cut off by Rebecca.

" With all due respect uncle but it wasn't his fault. He didn't know that he'd be attacked heck if it wasn't for that ex girlfriend of his none of this would've happened."

" Hold on, did you say his ex girlfriend? So what you're saying is that this drama was caused by a girl? Wait which ex are we talking about here?"

" Uhm...his ex Melanie.... she's the one who overreacted during...."

" Wait a minute , Melanie? That girl you dated in 12th grade or something? Now it all makes sense . The reason you applied there was just so you could be with her when I specifically told you not to have any ties with her whatsoever, how typical of you Luke" his father said fuming.

The car had just arrived at their mansion and as Luke was about to go inside his mother stopped him.

"This whole car ride you were quiet Luke, don't you have anything to say? Have you no shame with what you've done? You're not even going to apologize at least? We.."said his mother.

" Really mom? You too? I mean I expected this kind of behavior from dad but you too? You know what, screw you, screw all of you. Screw varsity ,screw Melanie. I hate this. All you've done since picking us up was accuse me of things I didn't do . I'm sick of all this"...... Luke turns to face the house and looks back at his father's direction and says

" You know what, I'm done. I'm done dad trying to impress you . I've spent my entire life trying to make you proud of me but there was not a single time where I've heard you appreciate my efforts, not once. I'll save you more of the embarrassment and just drop out. Maybe that'll make you happy."
Before anyone could respond Luke storms off to his room .

They all get into the house and Rebecca runs after look to talk some sense into him.

As she goes up the stairs , Bridget comes out of the kitchen with a bowl of popcorn. " Well that went well☺️" she says sarcastically before entering the home theater while her parents stare at her .

*Knock knock*
Rebecca opens the door and enters before Luke could respond and finds him standing by his window , staring at the stars and moon.

"Hey , are you ok? "

"Yes, I'm perfectly fine, just enjoying the view" Luke responds with an attitude.

" I was just trying to check up on you no need to be a jerk about it. You know what, I'll just do you a favour and leave you alone , I'm sure that's what you'd appreciate anyway"
Rebecca goes back down stairs and joins Bridget in the home theater and they watch a movie together.

" So what exactly happened on campus cuz? I hear you were the center of attention, all guys were defending you and everything"

Rebecca rolls her eyes at her but doesn't say anything and just keeps watching the movie.

" Fine, don't tell me if you don't want to, I don't care anyway. I mean it's not like you and my brother would make a cute couple anyway" Bridget says, using one of her talents, persuading someone into telling her things she didn't know.

" What's that supposed to mean? "  Becca asks with an eyebrow raised.

"Well let's face it, you know,and I know that even if we weren't related you and him would not make a good couple, you're just not his type."
