After spending 2 weeks at uncle Sid's place , it was
time for us to go to college. I was so ecstatic that I finally achieved something for once without my parents negotiating for me. Then again it hit me. Here I am, about to go to college and arrive in uncle Sid's scrap of a car. Just as we ( my cousin and I) are about to Leave, we are stunned by what just pulled up in the driveway.
" No way... Is that.... It can't be. Dad?" My cousin said in reaction. She too couldn't believe her eyes. It was my uncle Sid driving the latest Audi R8 v10 which he probably bought this morning. " Well come in . We're gonna be late for your registration . Oh and Luke , which scrap metal of a car were you referring to?" My uncle's says giggling." Wow uncle Sid what an upgrade.how much did it cost you to buy it?" I responded. " Bought it? Who said I bought it? It was a gift from a Friend and it costs about $5.6m I think."
We finish packing our luggage and head to college. It would have taken us approximately 9 hours to get to the college if we were using the van but since my uncle is a maniac when handling such a machine we got there in 7 hours since he was moving 220 mph which made it impossible to fall asleep because we were fearing for our lives. That's how we learned the hard way not to ever delay him.
We arrived at the college and started unpacking our bags from the car. There was a long queue of people who were also waiting to be registered. Uncle Sid left to get some coffee for us at the Starbucks which was a kilometer from her that we passed earlier. We waited for like an hour to be registered and the sun was scorching hot . It's times like these that I wish my parents were here. My dad is a well known businessman who doesn't like to be kept waiting so whenever we had to go to any queue he was made to cut the line. My mother on the other hand was well known for her music and acting career so people would lose their places in line to meet her and I would immediately sign up and leave.
As we were waiting, we hear a faint noise and it gets louder and louder as it draws near . It's the school's marching band. The music was so great, the colour of their marching uniform, the well polished instruments . It was all wonderful as this was my first live show in history. My parents always kept me a secret in the eyes of the public to protect me from the paparazzi. I never liked attention . Oh and did I mention that I was now attending school at ASU and not at Howard university anymore because apparently rich kids go there and love bragging a lot about their backgrounds so would want to know mine too.
As I was watching I looked the marching band leader and..... Is that... Melanie? I could not believe that the girl of my dreams goes to the same college as me. I guess things could change for the better.
Melanie's P.O.V
" OK guys let's go out there and show them what we got and let's give them a welcome they will never forget!" I say cheerfully to my marching band mates.
Today is registration day for the college . It is my first year too but I am in the marching band and the leader too somehow. During the school holidays I was here signing up .
As I lead my band I look at the so cheerful crowd of people, parents and students and as I wave I see the one guy I was hoping wouldn't be here . What is he doing here? Is he accompanying his cousin or was his dad here on an important business meeting and he thought he could come and watch to pass the time? Luke Ross . As I was stuck in my thoughts I am immediately disturbed by a loud honk coming from the school's bus which had lost its brakes and was moving uncontrollably when something or someone pushes me to the ground away from being harmed by the bus .
As I open my eyes there are plenty of eyes staring at me and whoever saved me. Luckily I wasn't badly injured as I had hit the ground with great impact,my head which was throbbing painfully , but I wouldn't say the same for the guy who saved me. He was lying unconsciously on the ground. I turned him over and it was Luke . He was rushed to the nurses office and she said he would be fine. I left after hearing that and went back to my regular activities. What ? Not all of us care that much. I never said the moron Should jump in front of a damn speeding bus to save me.
