The morning light filtered through the curtains in Zack's apartment, casting a warm glow over the room. Luke woke with a sense of heaviness, the weight of the previous night's revelations still pressing down on him. Zack was already awake, sitting at the small kitchen table.

"We should get going soon," Zack said softly, not turning around. His voice carried a quiet determination, but Luke could hear the undercurrent of anxiety.

"Yeah," Luke replied, rubbing the sleep from his eyes. He felt the unease too—a mix of dread and hope that twisted in his gut. Seeing Tyler again, after everything, was going to be difficult, but it was something he knew he had to face.

As they approached a small café to regroup and figure out their next move, Luke suddenly felt a tap on his shoulder. He turned around to find himself face to face with someone he hadn't seen in a while—Melanie, his ex-girlfriend.
"Luke? Is that really you?" Melanie's voice was a mix of shock and confusion. She looked just as he remembered— blonde hair falling in soft waves around her shoulders, her eyes sharp and searching. But there was a new weariness in her expression, as if the years had weighed heavily on her.  "Melanie," Luke replied, equally surprised. He hadn't expected to run into her, especially not today. "What are you doing here?" "I could ask you the same thing," she said, her eyes narrowing as she glanced from Luke to Zack and back again. "I thought you were still recovering in the hospital? I did not know you were discharged from the hospital, nobody told me". Luke hesitated, glancing at Zack, who remained silent, his expression unreadable. "It's... complicated," Luke finally said. " I ran away after finding out some things my father did." He then proceeds to also tell her about Tyler.

" You mean Tyler actually is alive?" Melanie asked, her voice softening but with a tone saying she already knew about it. Luke's heart skipped a beat. How did she know about Tyler? He'd been kept hidden for years—his father had made sure of that. But Melanie had always been perceptive, always knew more than she let on ."How did you—" Luke started, but Melanie cut him off. "I heard rumors," she said, crossing her arms. "People talk, Luke. I've spent enough time around hospitals in the last few years to pick up on things. I knew something didn't add up with Tyler's death, but I didn't know the whole story until a few minutes ago. "Luke felt a pang of guilt. Melanie had been a part of his life for so long, but in the chaos of his memory loss and the secrets that followed, she had been left behind. "I'm sorry," Luke said sincerely. "I didn't mean to shut you out. There was just so much going on. And now, with Tyler..."Melanie's expression softened, and she sighed, the tension in her shoulders easing slightly. "I get it, Luke. Really, I do. But you should have told me. I cared about you—about both of you. I would have been there for you. I just suspected something was up when your father smiled at me for the first time."

Zack, who had been silent until now, finally spoke up. "It's not too late, Melanie. We're trying to find Tyler now, but we don't know where he's being kept. You can come with us if you want. "Melanie looked at Zack, her eyes narrowing slightly as if trying to gauge his intentions. "You're the one who was always with him, weren't you?" she asked, her voice softer, almost tentative. "I remember you. Tyler always talked about you." Zack nodded, his expression somber. "Yeah. We were close." There was a moment of silence, heavy with unspoken words. Melanie seemed to wrestle with her own emotions, her gaze shifting between Luke and Zack. Finally, she sighed, her shoulders sagging as if the weight of the past few years had finally caught up with her. "Alright," she said quietly. "I'll come with you. If Tyler's alive, I need to see him too." With that, the three of them had a quick breakfast then drove  towards the hospital, a sense of urgency driving them forward. But as they drove into the town he had left behind, an unsettling thought lingered in the back of Luke's mind—if their father had gone to such lengths to hide Tyler's condition, would he really have left any loose ends at the hospital? The morning air was cool as Luke, Zack, and Melanie walked through the hospital parking lot, each lost in their own thoughts. The weight of what lay ahead pressed down on them, but there was also an underlying tension—none of them knew where Tyler was being kept. The secrecy their father had imposed had left them in the dark, and now, as they tried to piece together the fragments of their shattered lives, they realized just how little they knew.

Meanwhile, at the hospital, a phone rang in a small, dimly lit office. Dr. Caldwell, the doctor who had overseen Luke's care, picked up the receiver, his expression grim as he listened to the voice on the other end. "What do you mean he's gone?" Dr. Collins asked, his voice low but tense. He listened for a moment longer, his face growing more serious by the second. "He left without a word? And no one saw him? "The doctor's fingers tightened around the receiver, a sense of dread settling in his stomach. "I understand. I'll handle it from here. "After hanging up the phone, Dr. Collins hesitated for a moment before picking it up again and dialing a number he knew all too well. The line rang twice before a deep, familiar voice answered. "Chris," Dr. Collins said, his tone carefully measured. "We have a situation. Luke... he's left the hospital. "There was a pause on the other end of the line, a silence that spoke volumes. Finally, Chris's voice came through, cold and calculating. "Where did he go?" "We're not sure," Dr. Collins admitted. "He left without informing anyone, and there's no indication of where he might be headed. I thought you should know. "Chris's silence was heavy, and when he finally spoke, there was an edge to his words. "Find him. Whatever it takes, find him. I won't have him disrupting everything I've worked for." Dr. Collins swallowed hard, the weight of Chris's command settling heavily on his shoulders. "Understood. I'll do what I can. "As the call ended, Dr. Collins leaned back in his chair, staring at the ceiling. He knew this situation was more complicated than it appeared, and the stakes were higher than anyone realized. But there was no turning back now—Chris would stop at nothing to keep his secrets buried, even if it meant going after his own son. Luke, Zack, and Melanie reached the hospital, their determination tempered by the uncertainty of what they might find. The sterile hallways were all too familiar to Luke, the memories of his own time here resurfacing as they made their way to the front desk.

"We're looking for information about a patient," Zack said to the receptionist, his voice calm but insistent. "Tyler Ross. He's been here for a while, but we don't know where he's being kept. "The receptionist glanced at her computer, her fingers tapping rapidly on the keyboard. After a moment, she looked up, her expression apologetic. "I'm sorry, but I don't have any information on a patient by that name. Are you sure he's at this hospital? "Luke's heart sank. It was just as he feared—his father had erased all traces of Tyler's presence. "Is there anyone we can talk to who might know?" he asked, desperation creeping into his voice. The receptionist hesitated, then nodded slightly. "You could try speaking to Dr. Collins. He's one of the senior physicians here, and he might have more information. His office is down the hall, on the left. The receptionist had no idea what Luke looked like as he barely interacted with any of the hospital staff when he was still a patient there. " With a mix of hope and anxiety, the three of them made their way to Dr. Collins's office, each step feeling heavier than the last. When they reached the door, Zack knocked, his hand trembling slightly. The door opened to reveal Dr. Collins, his expression a careful mask of professionalism. But Luke noticed the flicker of recognition in the doctor's eyes—a flash of something that told him Dr. Collins knew more than he was letting on. "Can I help you?" Dr. Collins asked, his tone polite but guarded. "We're looking for my brother Tyler ," Luke said, his voice steady despite the turmoil inside him. "We know he was here, and we need to find him. I overheard your conversation with my father a few days ago. Please, if you know anything, you have to tell us." Dr. Collins hesitated, his gaze shifting between Luke, Zack, and Melanie.

There was a moment of silence, the tension thick in the air. Finally, the doctor sighed, his shoulders slumping slightly. "It's not safe for you to be asking these questions," Dr. Collins said quietly, his voice tinged with a warning. "Your father... he's gone to great lengths to keep Tyler's condition a secret. But I can tell you this much—Tyler is still in the city, but he's being kept in a private facility. I don't know the exact location, but it's highly secure. You won't find him easily. Even I have to be blindfolded now when I go to treat him thankfully unlike all the times I would be knocked out with a gas or chloroform ."Luke's heart raced, a mix of relief and frustration flooding through him. "Thank you," he said, his voice thick with emotion. "We'll find him, no matter what it takes." Dr. Collins gave a small nod, his expression softening slightly. "Be careful. Your father is not a man to be crossed lightly. For your sake and mine I will not tell him you were here. He already knows you ran and is looking for you. Good thing you came the one time the cameras of the hospital are being replaced and not working". With that, the doctor closed the door, leaving Luke, Zack, and Melanie standing in the hallway, their minds reeling from the information they had just received. They had a lead, but it was a tenuous one, and the dangers that lay ahead were all too real. As they left the hospital, the weight of what they were about to undertake settled heavily on their shoulders. But despite the uncertainty, there was a newfound determination in each of them—a resolve to find Tyler and bring him back, no matter the cost.
