The road leading to Uncle Sid's house was long and winding, flanked by dense trees that seemed to grow thicker the farther they drove. Sid kept his eyes on the road, his jaw set in determination, while Rebecca sat beside him, her gaze flicking nervously between the map on her phone and the darkening landscape outside."It should be just up ahead," Rebecca said, pointing to a turnoff that led into an even narrower road. "The tracker says it's somewhere in these woods."Sid nodded, his hands gripping the steering wheel a little tighter. "Let's hope we find him quickly. It's not like Luke to just disappear like this."They turned onto the dirt road, the car jostling over the uneven surface. The trees seemed to close in around them, casting long shadows in the fading light of the evening. Finally, the road opened into a small clearing, and Sid pulled the car to a stop."This is it," Rebecca said, her voice tinged with both relief and apprehension. "The signal is strongest here."

They both stepped out of the car, the quiet of the woods pressing in around them. The only sound was the crunch of leaves beneath their feet as they began to search the area. Rebecca held up her phone, watching as the blinking dot on the screen grew larger, indicating they were close. "Over here!" she called out, her voice breaking the silence.Sid hurried over to where Rebecca was crouched by a large tree, the roots of which were tangled and knotted. Lying among the roots, half-covered by leaves and dirt, was Luke's phone. It was still on, the screen glowing faintly in the dim light. Sid frowned as he picked up the phone, turning it over in his hand. "But where's Luke?" he muttered, glancing around the clearing as if expecting his nephew to emerge from the shadows. Rebecca stood up, her arms wrapped around herself as she looked around. "This doesn't make any sense. Why would he leave his phone here? And where could he have gone?" Sid shook his head, worry lines deepening on his face. "I don't know, but we need to find out. Luke wouldn't just leave his phone unless something was wrong." They spent the next hour searching the surrounding woods, calling out Luke's name, but there was no response—only the rustling of leaves and the distant hoot of an owl. The growing darkness made it harder to see, and the oppressive quiet of the forest only added to the unease that was settling in Sid's stomach. Finally, Sid stopped, frustration and fear gnawing at him. "We need to go back and call Chris. Let him know what we found—or didn't find. Maybe he has some idea where Luke could be."Rebecca nodded, her face pale in the dim light. "He could be hurt, or lost... or maybe he's trying to stay hidden." Sid didn't want to consider the darker possibilities but knew they couldn't be ignored. As they made their way back to the car, he could feel the weight of the situation pressing down on him. This wasn't just a simple case of Luke running off—there was something much deeper, much more troubling, going on here.Back at the car, Sid dialed his brother's number. Chris picked up almost immediately, his voice tense and expectant. "Did you find him?" Chris asked, his tone clipped. Sid hesitated, then replied, "We found his phone, Chris, but... there's no sign of Luke. We searched the area, but it's like he vanished."

There was a long pause on the other end, and Sid could almost hear the gears turning in Chris's mind. Finally, Chris spoke, his voice heavy. "I was afraid of this. Sid, we need to assume Luke didn't leave on his own. Something's happened, and we need to figure out what before it's too late." "What do you want us to do?" Sid asked, glancing at Rebecca, who was watching him with wide eyes. "I need you to stay there and keep looking," Chris said, his voice resolute. "I'll make some calls, see if I can get some help out there. Whatever you do, don't leave that area. If Luke's out there, we have to find him." Sid agreed, and after the call ended, he turned to Rebecca. "We're staying put. Chris is going to send help." Rebecca nodded, though the unease hadn't left her face. "Do you think he's okay, dad?" Sid sighed, his eyes scanning the darkening woods. "I hope so, Rebecca. I really do." As the night settled in, the search for Luke continued, but with each passing minute, the mystery deepened. Where was Luke, and why had he left his phone behind? The answers were out there, hidden in the shadows, but finding them would require more than just searching the woods—it would require uncovering the secrets that had been buried for far too long.
Chris ended the call with Sid, his mind racing as he quickly dialed another number, this time for Titus, his most trusted bodyguard. The phone barely rang twice before Titus picked up, his voice steady and professional."Yes, sir?""Titus, I need you to gather some men and head out to where my brother Sid is," Chris ordered, not wasting any time. "Luke's phone was found near his place, but Luke himself is missing. I need you to coordinate with Sid and help with the search. Whatever it takes, find him."Titus responded immediately, "Understood, sir. We'll be there as soon as possible."Chris could hear Titus already moving, issuing orders in the background. He was reliable, and Chris knew he could trust him to handle the situation on the ground. As soon as he ended the call with Titus, Chris quickly dialed another number, this time for Boris, his second-in-command. Boris was known for his intimidating presence and efficiency—exactly what Chris needed right now. "Boris," Chris said as soon as the line connected, "I need you to take a team and head to the hospital. Luke managed to escape from under their noses, and I want answers. Talk to the doctor, the staff, anyone who might have seen or heard something. Make it clear that we're not leaving without the truth." Boris's voice was low and firm, "Consider it done, sir. I'll get to the bottom of this." Chris hung up the phone and leaned back in his chair, his mind still racing. The situation was spiraling out of control faster than he had anticipated, and the stakes were getting higher by the minute. He had always prided himself on being able to manage any crisis, but this—this was different. Luke was missing, and the secrets Chris had kept hidden for so long were beginning to surface, threatening to unravel everything he had built. With Titus and Boris now deployed, Chris knew he had done everything he could for the moment. But as he sat in the quiet of his office, the weight of the situation pressed down on him, and he couldn't shake the feeling that something far more dangerous was lurking just beyond his reach.
