"OOF!" Camilo exclaimed as he hit the ground.

He sat up and looked around, taking in his surroundings.

It was a strangely beautiful place. Plants were unnaturally colored and shaped. Stars replaced clouds in the sky, and the moon seemed dangerously close.

"Hello?" Camilo called, quickly standing. "HELLO?" he repeated, cupping his mouth.

In the distance, he could see a figure. A woman. Imena's mother.

   She stared confused at him.

Camilo waved awkwardly.

   "Who are you?" she asked.

   "Oh, my name's Camilo."

Abana frowned in further confusion.

"H-how did you get here? Why are you here?" she asked.

"I'm here on behalf of Imena, señora. I came to help." Camilo said.

Abana rushed up to meet him.

"This way, this way." she said.

A few yards away, Imena and Uzoma's fathers sat around an empty fire pit.

"This boy says that he's here with Imena." Abana announced.

Eguono sat up, wincing.

   "Is she here?" he asked.

"No, she's on the other side of the portal I came out of. Did you guys catch the flower?" Camilo asked.

"Yes, yes." Abana said, scurrying to pick it up. "It's right here."

Camilo looked into her eyes. She was clearly tired and seemed a bit delirious.

Eguono steadily held his torso, barely moving.

Uloho seemed dismal and regretful, staring emptily into the fire pit.

"So uh, now do we get out of here?" Camilo asked.

"We've tried." Abana said. "The portals are opening at random, and Eguono can't seem to gain control of them."

"How can I help?" Camilo asked.

"Whenever a new portal opens, we've tried to reach them before they close. Usually, they open in strange places like on the cliff, or...across the river." Abana answered. "Not long ago one opened in the sky."

"Camilo? Where are you? The portal's closing! Get out of there now!"

Imena's voice echoed through the air, causing her parents to look around hopefully.

"You can hear her in here? Can she hear us?" Camilo asked.

"No..." Eguono answered. "She seems very concerned about you. How did you two meet?"

Abana glanced at him before looking back at Camilo.

"Oh...uh, she came to my village. I met her there."

   "And?" Abana asked.

"Well, I mean...she didn't like me at first." Camilo shrugged. "She warmed up to me, though."

"And what are you now?" Eguono asked.

Camilo raised his brows and looked at the ground.

"That remains to be seen, señor." he smiled.

"...okay." Eguono said, raising a brow.

"Camilo come out of there now!" Imena demanded desperately. "PLEASE! Ma? Baba? Can you hear me?"
