"Alright, Sparky, you got this, boy," Sakusa said as he ruffled his hands through Sparky's fur.
It had been three years since they'd moved into their new house and at the moment it was a Saturday night.
Sakusa, Atsumu, Hinata and Bokuto had all gone to play for Japan in the Olympics, but the couple went back to MSBY after two years while the two bird brains stayed on the Olympic team.
They were in a park near their house and Atsumu was currently sitting on a swingset, watching the stars as they glittered over-head.
Sakusa took a deep breath as he looked at his boyfriend, sitting peacefully a few meters away.
Sakusa had been playing with Sparky while Atsumu watched, though Sparky had run a bit too far, causing Sakusa to have to go get him.
Sakusa gazed at Atsumu in the faint silver light of the moon with a look of complete awe on his face as he nervously placed his hand in his pocket to check if the small box was still there.
He breathed a sigh of relief as he felt the box in his pocket before turning his attention back to his boyfriend.
He watched as Atsumu was illuminated in the moonlight, his light hair and tanned skin glowing feintly.
His beautiful honey-brown eyes that Sakusa could get lost in sparkled as they reflected the stars in the dark night sky.
The enormous full moon hung low as it had just risen over the horizon above the trees, reflecting brightly off his perfect smile as his attention turned to Sparky who bolted towards him.
Atsumu laughed as he stood up from the swing and crouched down to ruffle Sparky's fur.
Sakusa took a deep breath before he walked up to his boyfriend and their dog, gripping tightly to the box in his pocket.
Sakusa and Atsumu had been together for almost nine years at this point and the spiker had loved every single second of it.
Now he was going to make it permanent.
Only if Atsumu said yes.
Sakusa stopped behind Atsumu as Sparky darted around the blonde and hid behind the spiker.
Atsumu turned around and smiled with a raised eyebrow at Sparky whose tail was wagging while he hid being Sakusa.
"Atsumu?"
Atsumu's attention immediately snapped towards Sakusa, a look of curiosity dawning across his face at the use of his whole first name instead of the usual 'Atsu'.
Sakusa's breath caught in his throat, to him, Atsumu was the definition of beauty, and Sakusa felt himself falling in love all over again.
"Yes, Omi?" Atsumu asked.
Sakusa took a step forward, taking hold of Atsumu's hands as he looked deeply into the setter's eyes.
"Atsumu... Ever since the day I first saw you on the other side of the court, I knew something had changed inside me forever, and never had I ever thought that I'd be able to touch anyone like I can with you, I never thought I'd ever be able to fall in love and be intimate with someone, with a man no less..." Sakusa began with a small chuckle as Atsumu's cheeks grew red and his eyes widened, "I think we both know that things between us were pretty rough in the beginning, we were so young back then but we pushed past that... And look at us now, two former Olympic volleyball players, with our whole lives ahead of us..."
Sakusa took a deep breath, gazing into the beautiful eyes of his boyfriend, "You're incredible, Atsumu, in every single way possible, and somehow you keep getting me to fall for you over and over again every second I spend with you..."
Atsumu's eyes widened and tears formed as Sakusa bent down on one knee.
Sakusa let go off Atsumu's hands to carefully take the small black box out of his pocket.
Atsumu covered his mouth with the palms of his hands as he choked back a sob but stayed quiet.
"So Miya Atsumu, while we still have our whole lives ahead of us, will you do me the honor of spending the rest of yours with me?" Sakusa finished as he opened the box to reveal a delicate rose-gold ring with a pretty light yellowish-orange citrine center-stone surrounded by small pastel-green peridot gems that dotted the ring band itself.
Atsumu stared wide-eyed at the ring, tears streaming down his face as he nodded quickly, biting back a cry as he said, "Yes- Yes, Omi! Yes!"
Sakusa smiled widely as Atsumu offered him his hand, which he slid the ring on before standing up.
Atsumu immediately jumped into Sakusa's arms, wrapping his arms around his neck as Sakusa wrapped his own arms around Atsumu's waist and spun him around in a circle.
Sakusa slowly lowered Atsumu to the ground and kissed him slowly and gently, every ounce of their emotions flowing into the kiss.
Sakusa pulled away from the kiss and pressed their foreheads together as Atsumu smiled warmly at him.
"Yer not gonna be able to call me Miya anymore," he giggled.
Sakusa chuckled, "True, but everyone else will be calling you Sakusa, so I'm okay with that," he said with a smirk as Atsumu blushed.
"Mhm... Yeah, well, as long as it's Sakusa an' not Miya, I'll be fine," Atsumu replied with a grin.
Sakusa smiled fondly at his now-fiancé who smiled back him with eyes filled with love.
They heard a bark and turned their attention to Sparky who was wagging his tail excitedly.
The couple began to laugh as they watched their dog jump around and wag his tail.
Atsumu turned back to Sakusa, "I love ya, Kiyoomi," he said.
Sakusa's facial expression softened at the use of his first name, "I love you more, Atsumu, remember that."
