fifteen

the week goes by in a flash and it's friday night again way sooner than what hyunjin would like.

"twirl for me."

hyunjin does a quick 360 in front of the tall mirror he has in his bedroom and then faces his boyfriend who's sitting on his bed.

"this one's better. that white shirt just made you look like a prude."

"it's cold outside, though," hyunjin protests cautiously. "this one's so thini'm going to freeze."

"see? you're complaining again," the raven haired stands up with an exaggerated sigh. hyunjin wraps his arms around his own body. "just wear it. it'll be easy for me to take off later, yeah?"

"yeah..." the brunette chews on his lower lip nervously, turning around to face the mirror yet again.

the dark red blouse he's wearing is made out of silk and feels light on his skin. the shirt is loose but neatly tucked in the front of his tighter black pants. his makeup is subtle and carefully done. his hair is styled in a way that could be described as relaxed. not formal yet not messy either. still, he thinks he looks awful.

"i look fat" he points out quietly, glancing at the raven haired's reflection on the mirror. he's walked up to him and now stands right behind him. then he places his hands on his shoulders and clicks his tongue at the way hyunjin winces at the contact.

"do you now?" hyunjin hates the way the other examines him, gaze hard and unempathetic. he feels like an insect under a magnifier — helpless and pathetic. "i don't think so. too thin, though — it makes all clothes hang off your body like some cheap rags. you're just so bony, hyunjin."

the older's comment makes hyunjin's heart sink but he wills himself not to let his expression waver. he eyes at his chest and the exposure of his collarbones, still wishing he could cover them up.

"this will have to do," hyunjin reluctantly nods in response, waiting for the other to continue. "come to think of it, when was the last time you we even went out together? nowadays you're always making up excuses."

"i've been busy," hyunjin lies through his teeth. "i've been trying to catch up on uni work. like i told you," he adds quietly. "i don't want to disappoint my parents."

the raven haired laughs.

"too late for that, don't you think?" hyunjin has to suck in a deep breath in order not to soon ruin the makeup he spent half an hour doing. "if they only knew about your shameful adventures on the campus they wouldn't be so eager to overwork themselves just to help you pay for your studies. don't you think it's pretty gross to keep lying to them about what you're really like?"

"what?"

"i mean, what would your mother think if she found out that her son spends more time getting bent over dirty sinks than in the lectures she's trying so hard to pay for?"

"that's not even true," hyunjin lets his eyes flutter shut as the grip on his shoulders grows marginally tighter at his disagreement. "i thought— i thought you promised not to tell my parents anything that could affect my relationship with them."

"if you promised to keep your contact with them at minimum, that's right," his boyfriend lets go of his shoulders and steps back. "i've kept my promise, haven't i? don't be so skittish, hyunjin, let's just get going."

hyunjin has practically hung off his boyfriend's arm the whole night to deal with the anxiety being here causes him. his boyfriend finds it annoying and, frankly, hyunjin symphatizes with him because having to keep an eye on him must get tiring. they get weird looks because of him and the way the older nudges his side every now and then is just a subtle way of telling hyunjin to get his act together and stop embarrassing the older.
