"wake up wack ass!" you found yourself in kakucho's apartment, shaking him profusely by the shoulders as he snapped awake in his half empty bed. bonten towers had been up and running for the past two hours, but trust kakucho to catch himself a couple hours of extra, well-deserved sleep. being the only competent man within bonten must take a toll on one, and the darker patches under his eyes only made you sympathise with his drive to keep everyone within this skyscraping building safe. kakucho, the loving younger brother anyone would wish for."dammit y/n- i'm up! what is it?" he muffled a groan as he wiped down his face and held his hands over his eyes to block out the invading light.
"it's dog day! c'mon kaku, you've gotta come with me to pick him up~ didn't we always dream of a life like this?!" you hopped up and down by the foot of his bed, like a giddy child readying herself for a day out. you found your way to the walk-in closet, rummaging through tens of identical dress shirts in attempt to find kakucho some casual attire. "shit kakucho- we gotta take you shopping after this!" you whined, disappointment lacing your voice as you struggled to find something that would stand out, and more importantly match your own outfit you had picked for the day. nothing too flashy, a pleated red tartan skirt paired with a simple lace trimmed tank and the usual studded belt-leather jacket combo.
"out of my closet now~" kakucho flung you away from your shoulder, reaching for a towel and grabbing whatever the first clothes that hit his hands before stumbling off to the shower. "the things i do for you..." he muttered to himself in annoyance as you followed him to the bathroom like a lost dog.
"let me tell you everything about the dog!" you sat yourself down on the closed toilet seat, as kakucho stripped down before walking steadily to the shower. he caringly kept the water on a low to ensure he could clearly hear your rambling. as much as you overstepped his boundaries- dammit you were talking to him as he showered, kakucho wished he could hear your voice forever. laced with love and nostalgia, kakucho knew he would miss out on decades of sleep just to hear your voice again, and he would give anything to see you just across the glass of the en-suite shower, kicking your feet and humming in happiness as you described the age and adorable size of the belgian malinois puppy you were going on about.
"he's got these cute little ears- and oh! they're starting to stand up a little too! won't he just be so cute!!" you barely remained still on the makeshift seat, talking endless descriptions and meaningless nothings of your excitement ~ kakucho could only gush at how endearing you seemed in this light. "it was smart right! to get a puppy, so i can have him for as long as possible and- we can grow old together!"
"smart indeed y/n~!" kakucho chuckled lowly, stepping out from the quick shower naked and yanking a towel around his lower abdomen with zero shame. he admired the softer side of you, it drew him back to the tenjiku days which he thought of so often, and comforted him with a warmth no other thought could bring. you linked arms with kakucho, as he pulled on a pair of sweatpants and the pair of you walked arm in arm to the lounge downstairs.
