Ch. 18

After reading Christian's text, Charlotte let out a low grunt and called him.

"What's your deal?" she asked once he answered with a stern 'what.'

"What do you mean?  You're the one who ditched us last night for those losers in that stupid band.  I can't believe I let you drag me to that concert.  If I had known I would have been bored out of my mind and you would've left me for some idiot celebrities, I wouldn't have gone.  You know-"

"Christian, SHUT UP!  I guess Calum was right, you are just jealous.  Bye Chris," Charlotte said.  He began speaking, but all she heard was 'Jealous of wha-' before hanging up.

"Oh wow," Calum sighed, finishing his food.

"Did you guys hear him?" Charlotte asked, incredibly ticked off.  The boys nodded and Michael rolled his eyes.

"Well, let me just say that if he's gonna treat you like that after you spend one night with friends you haven't seen in years, he's definitely not worth your time," Michael said, standing up and picking up the tray.  Charlotte and Calum followed as Michael threw away their trash and walked outside the restaurant.

"Want to come hang out at mine for a while?  Ashton and Luke are coming over later, but I'm sure they won't care if you're there," Michael offered.  Charlotte nodded and put his address in the GPS on her phone, driving off to his house.  Once they arrived, they walked into Michael's large house and kicked their shoes off by the front door.

"Hey Mum," Michael said as he walked through his living room, where his mother, Karen, was watching TV and looking at something on her laptop.  She turned around and smiled at her son and Calum, but the smile faded when she noticed Charlotte.

"Mum, this is Charlotte," Michael said.  Charlotte stepped forward and reached out her hand, but Karen just looked at her.

"Charlotte Mansen," she whispered, more to herself.

Charlotte nodded, "Nice to see you again, Mrs. Clifford."

"Mmm," Karen hummed, turning back around and focusing on her computer again.  Charlotte looked back at Michael and he shook his head.  She and Calum followed the red-headed boy to his man cave, where he spent most of his time.

"This is nice, Mikey," Charlotte said, sitting on the big ass couch.

"Thanks," he said, pulling three beers out of the mini fridge.  He handed one to Calum and offered one to Charlotte, but she shook her head.

"I don't drink," she said.  The guys looked at her with wide eyes.

"What?  Really?  Why?" Cal asked, taking a seat next to her.

"There was this one night I got really wasted, and the next morning I woke up with a horrible hangover and puke all over my clothes and bed, so that day I vowed to never drink alcohol again.  Except for wine, wine's okay," she explained.

"Well, would you like something else?" Michael offered.

"Just water's fine," she shrugged.  Michael sighed and grabbed a bottle of water from the fridge and chucked it at where she was sitting next to Calum.

"That's not even that bad of a reason not to drink.  That's happened to me so many times but here I am," Calum said, taking a swig of his beer and propping his feet on the coffee table in front of him.

"I also just don't find pleasure in not having control over my own body and mind.  Especially with what I told you last night," Charlotte explained, drinking her water as Michael turned on the TV and sat next to Calum.

"What did you tell him last night?" Michael asked, eyes on the TV as he looked for a movie on Netflix.

"Just that I've never had sex," Charlotte told him nonchalantly.

Michael nearly choked on his beer.  "Really?"

                Charlotte nodded.

"Huh," he said.  "For some reason I thought you would be one of those girls that does it all the time.  Not like, a slut or anything, but like, you know, once you felt like you've found 'the one' and whatever."

"Maybe I am, but that's the thing, I don't think I've found 'the one'.  But, maybe I have, who knows?" she shrugged.
