***Ramya's POV.***
"Not this one." Mum says and throws away my favorite suit behind her.
"What about this one?" I ask and show her a shimmering gown.
"It is a simple family dinner, dear, not your reception. Give me that one." She says, and I pass another dress for her inspection.
"Hey, this one is nice." I say.
"Who chooses dresses for you?" She asks.
"Me. And I am good at this." I say.
"But I am the best." She says.
"That you are." I say and go to hug her.
"No time for that right now." She says and moves and I fall on a pile of clothes on my bed.
"We have to go shopping. You do not have enough clothes." She says and we look around the room full of clothes.
"You are right. Let's go. I will clean up after I come back." I say and she nods.
And off we go shopping. We spend almost all the afternoon shopping and having some mother-daughter time. It has been two years since we had this much fun together. We try so many outfits and still feel energized enough to buy some more gifts for Malhotras.
"We got late, Ramya." Mum says as she rushes around my room to help me clean up.
"We are fine. We are going for dinner, not some meeting. You go get ready. I will see to this." I say.
"But-" She says but I stop.
"Just do as I say. You are wearing a saree, while I just have to wear this cute maxi dress." I say.
"Don't you want to get extra ready for someone?" She asks.
"No. I rather make him see me as I am, so he falls for me fast." I say.
"Don't daydream, dear." She says with a teasing smile.
"Mum!" I exclaim and shake my head as she giggles and goes out.
I roll my eyes and get ready. The maxi dress is of pink color with flutter sleeves and flared hem. I leave my long hair open and put a cute hairband on it. After wearing matching heels, I go down. Mr. Verma is already here, so we leave as soon as Mum gets ready.
"Welcome, Mr. Verma, Miss Kaur." Kavya aunty greets us.
"Thank you. I am sorry if we are late. Ramya took time to get ready." Mum says.
"No, I didn't." I say.
"No need to be shy now, dear. We all know you want to get ready for a special someone." She says with a teasing smile for aunty then glares at me as soon as she turns away.
"Are you sure you want to marry my Mum? If so, then be ready to take the blame for getting late. Because she never admits that we get late because of her." I say to Mr. Verma.
"I can deal with it." He says with a smile and I smile back.
We sit down on the couch, and the elders talk among themselves. I look around and find no one of my age. Where are Jiju, Mayra, Parth and most of all Reyansh? Even Veer is missing. Not to mention Arya Bhabhi and Bhai are also not here. Are they trying to punish me by having some fun alone? That is so not fair.
I want to have fun too.
"I am sorry, Ramya. I didn't know you thought kirtan is fun. Next time, I promise to invite you." Reyansh's Dadi says and I make a mental note not to get lost in the middle of them again, otherwise I will end up in the golf club.
