***Reyansh's POV.***

"Is everything good to go?" I ask Jai.

"Yes. I checked the guest list and none of them are from Jagvi's side." He says.

"What about the decoration and arrangement for the sangeet?" I ask Zain.

"Everything is going well there, too. No loose wires there." He says.

"Good. I want no more issues in any ceremony, otherwise my family would get suspicious that this all is happening for a reason." I say and straighten my kurta.

"But you have to tell your family about this. What if it really is Jagvi who is doing all this? You know how crazy she is." Jai says.

"Yes. She spread rumors about you being gay just to keep other girls away from you. Though no one believed that, not after how you acted in the drama held in college fest. After that, girls were literally fluttering around you all the time." Zain says.

"Jagvi isn't here. And you both confirmed that you saw her in Bangalore. Nor can I find one person who can help her from the inside. But I can't let her off the hook just because I don't have any proof against her. She is the only one who has the motive to do something like this." I say.

"Right. But why don't we still just talk to her directly? Working in secret is not helping much." Jai says.

"But it means she doesn't know we have realized that something can go wrong. My focus is to just get married with no one getting suspicious. And for that, I have to behave like everything is okay. So Ramya doesn't see any tension and it wouldn't spoil her mood. It is my second wedding, but it is her first." I say.

"We will do everything we can and observe everything from the shadows." Zain assures me, and I smile in appreciation.

I go down to see my family gathered around as they get mehendi applied to their hands. Ramya notices me and gestures for me to come to her. I walk towards her but get pulled back by my little sister, Arya, who asks me to dance with her on dholak's beat, which some aunties are playing.

Well, that is awkward but I do so for her happiness and also to catch a smile on my fiancee's face too. After a few seconds, I sit beside Ramya and she shows me her hands, which are filled with mehendi. The artist goes to bring another cone for her leg.

"I am telling you, you are not finding your name that easily." Ramya says with a naughty smile.

Little does she know I already found it, but I will not spoil her fun, but definitely tease her later on. She asks me about the details related to our start-up and asks me if she can ask her friends to join it too.

"Of course. If my friends are joining, your friends could too." I say.

"Well, in that case, I hope you are happy to get a corporate lawyer, as Aisha's firm is now working in India too, and she wants to get you as her first client." She says.

"Well, lucky me. But I hope you won't mind if I still interview her and know more about their working system." I say.

"Not at all. Also, ‌interview Kate too, as she wants to work with us too. I told you she works in IT just like you." She says.

"Yes. I will do that. Is Arlo going to work with us too? What will he design? Walls?" I ask with a chuckle and she glares at me, "Sorry."

"Don't make fun of him. He can't come as he already has work in London. But I wish he could move here too." She says.

"Sorry we are not opening a boutique." I say and she goes to slap my arm, but stops.

"You are safe for today." She says, then turns back, but a sudden wind makes her hair fly over her face. She tries to blow them and fails miserably. Then she turns to me and asks, "Are you just going to watch and not help?"

"Fine. Where is your clip?" I ask.

"It was here only." She says and looks here and there.

Ramya finds it behind me and goes to take it when Kate falls beside her.

"Ouch!" She says.

"Kate! What happened?" Ramya asks while Jai helps Kate to stand up.

"Nothing I tripped over something, I think. I don't know." She says confused.

"Are you okay?" I ask.

"I am fine." She says and gets back on her feet without Jai's help, but almost falls and he catches her again.

"Did your foot get sprained?" He asks.

"Feels like it." She says and bites her lips, maybe to hide her pain for Ramya's sake.

"Jai, take her to her room. I will send Mrs. Banerjee. She is Mom's friend and also a doctor." I say.

"No, there is no need. I can go to my room by myself." Kate says.

"You can't even stand up straight." Jai says in a serious tone.

"But I can try. Oh, my gosh!" Kate exclaims as Jai picks her up suddenly.

"I will drop her to her room. Ramya, why don't you ask your other friend to be there?" He asks.

"Sure. I will find Aisha and tell her. Take care of her, Jai." Ramya says as they leave.

"I will." Jai says while Kate is still in shock.

Jai is a big oaf who is smart but a total airhead. He never realizes that sometimes his actions, which are normal to him, can mean something totally different to other people. I shake my head and look back at Ramya, who looks concerned.

"Don't worry. Jai is a gentleman through and through. He would take good care of your friend." I say.

"I know that. I just hope Kate doesn't fall in love with him." Ramya says.

"Why would that happen?" I ask with a frown.

"Because my friend is a romantic at heart." She says, "Even though she has never fallen for anyone. She has specific criteria for what her knight in shining armor would look like. And Jai showed two qualities to her already." She says.

"And what were they?" I ask.

"Honest and Strong." She says, "That girl is doomed, and so is that boy."

"You are just making that up. Let me tie your hair now." I say and take the clip and tie her hair.

As I do that my eyes go to where Kate fell from. There is nothing there and Kate was wearing a simple short kurti and jeans, so she can't possibly trip over her hem. But it is possible she lost her balance.

These attacks are making me suspicious of every little thing. But later at sangeet, when all the songs from our system are deleted, I realize that I have to be cautious for every second of my wedding.

"What do we do now, Reyansh?" Ramya asks me, "I have learned so much choreography from Mayra. Now all the music is gone."

"I am so excited for this, Reyansh. What do we do?" Mom complains.

"Don't worry. If you are forgetting, you are engaged to a tech guy and you are a mother of the same." I say and go to check.

It wouldn't have been a problem if the songs weren't medley. But my Mom wanted to enjoy the sangeet and dance with her Samdhans, so she prepared all of this, now that she has a daughter who is a professional.

When I recovered music, Ramya squeals in happiness and kisses my cheek and says, "You are my hero."

Well, I will doze any fires as long as appreciation like this will keep coming.

I shake my head at that thought. Okay. I should not be thinking about that. Since when did I started taking this wedding seriously? But isn't this all serious? I am really getting married the day after tomorrow and this woman who is dancing and laughing is going to be my wife.

I can't take wedding vows lightly. That means insulting them which are sacred. But what does Ramya think about this, after all? Will she take this seriously, too? Or does she think this is all part of the act, too?

But didn't she say stuff, which means that she is taking all this seriously? I have seen the hurt look in her eyes every time I mention that it is all fake. When did this relationship get serious?

I don't know the answer to that, but I will do my best to keep the promises I will make with her because that's how I have been raised.
