Chapter 3- A Day in the Life

July 10th, 2013:

Ever since my meltdown after recording Born Singer the boys have made sure to always ask about my school day, they had found that given the length and openness of my response they could gauge my mood and needs. I realised what they were doing almost immediately and appreciated it, they were trying. They also started to keep elastics (hair ties in US English) and hygiene products with them. However, they didn't lower their expectations or baby me when I made mistakes, nor did I want them to.

I had woken up early to go to the gym before school. Jimin had decided to come with me, not wanting me to walk to the gym and work out alone. He always used me as an excuse to not look suspicious for working out in the morning and after practice, but I knew he would probably do it anyway regardless of me.

It was still dark as we met up on the street corner. We were both so tired we barely acknowledged each other, just a "hey" and nod. We walked to our gym in silence, school, and gym bags in hand.

"Why do you work out so much?" I broke the silence, "you're more fit than anyone expects you to be, I'm sure you could use the sleep".

Jimin looks at me and thinks before answering, "I want to prove people wrong I guess. My face might look like a baby or mochi," he says feeling his cheeks, "but I want to show them that I'm not a baby, I'm a man, a strong one. And I might need the sleep, but I have to help the group somehow. Hoseok, Namjoon, and Yoongi-hyung all write and produce. Seokjin-hyung is handsome and knows it. Jungkook and you are the makneas, and feminine touch," he sees me grimace at the term and chuckles slightly, "And Taehyung adds character as well as a deep @ss voice... I feel like this is the only way for me to really contribute." He answers seriously, not always looking at me.

I hum in response, looking down at the sidewalk. "I think you contribute a lot. A lot more than just your abs. Your dancing is second to none, you're the only one to do all real flipping, I'm more like a knock-off version," I chuckle, "and your vocal range is incredible," I finish smiling at him.

"Thanks Y/N," is all he says in response. I don't think he quite believes me, I think to myself, slightly upset he doesn't realise how much he means to the group.

I had taken the bus and walked to the Big Hit building with Jungkook after school. I spent the bus ride listening to Jungkook complain about the amount of homework he was given that day, like me, Jungkook wasn't exactly the best at school, I might actually be a bit better.

As we walked into the dance studio reserved for us, I saw Sejin was in the corner waiting for all of us to gather so I quickly went to change seeing Jimin and Taehyung hadn't arrived yet. By the time I got back, everyone was there and waiting for me. I quickly went in and apologised for being late.

"Ok, just some quick news you should already know. First, Born Singer is coming out tomorrow so look out for that. Second, we'll continue recording the tracks for your first comeback throughout the next week or so, you should have seen your recording times in the memo we put in your lockers. We want to have it done by August. Third, on Saturday, Sun-Deuk will be in to see how far you've gotten with the choreos for the comeback. Fourth, you guys are starting to shoot Rookie King on Monday, so make sure you're prepared for that. Finally, yesterday it was released that ARMY was the most voted on name for your fans. It stands for Adorable Representative MC of Youth and means that you guys will always be together with the fans since it also means body armour and protection in English. Uhh, that's pretty much it, anything you guys want to add or ask?" finishes Sejin looking down at the sticky note with the list in his hand before looking up at us.
