"Your food sucks anyways!" A loud yet ignored scream resonated outside the empty restaurant. The golden sunrise lighting the dim world, Win sighed as he walks away from his ex-job. If his old boss didn't accused him of such nonsense then maybe he'll still have his fifth job. Bringing out his phone, Win stared at his phone's wallpaper. It was his baby girl- Miyara, Dressed up in pink for her birthday last year.
"I'm so sorry Miyara" Win once again sighed tucking his phone back in his pocket. Losing his second high paying job stress the hell out of Win, As all the responsibilities and other unpaid fees came to him like a flash. Win fell numb and out-of-space as he analyzes his next plan, not for him but for his daughter.
Win arrived home with a smile plastered on his face. There are atleast three hours before Miyara's classes, He quietly entered his rented home seeing an old lady from next door. "You came home early. She's still sleeping" She greeted standing from the small couch. Win smiled shyly dropping his bag on the side. "Thank you so much" He thanked while assisting the old grandmother out.
He finally made his way to his daughter and his shared room. Seeing the little girl sleeping soundly making Win feel guilty for trying to wake her up. After his mental arguments, He lightly shaked Miyara causing her to move recklessly. "Wake up Miyara, It's time for school" Win gently whispered.
As the gentle words reached Miyara, She slowly opened her eyes gazing at his father's face. "Good morning!" Miyara happily greeted making Win giggle in delight. Win came closer to her forehead implanting a kiss. "Good morning to you too"
Win swiftly carried his daughter out of bed as he walks away in order to prepare Miyara in her first day of school. Dropping off Miyara in the bathroom as she independently bathe herself alone- which made Win proud. As the pan reheats the left over rice from yesterday, Win's gaze was stuck on the endless bills that were pinned on the side of their mini refrigerator. He had enough for them if he sacrifices his already minimal fees.
"Ah!" The burning pain stung the side of his hand, quickly rinsing it off with cold water. "Papa! Are you ok?" Worried Miyara exclaimed running towards her father. She was already in her school uniform though her hair was still a mess- He can fix it later. Win nodded with a smile as he turned off the stove and prepared her breakfast.
"Are you not eating?" Miyara asked stopping her bites. Win knew her daughter was smart- too smart. He once again nodded and signaled his daughter to continue. Win only consumed three pieces of bread and warm water, surely not enough for a worker like him yet as long as it's for his daughter- for Miyara.
Miyara lightly pushed two pieces of heart-shaped nuggets towards her father. "Eat this I don't want them anymore" She lied, the nuggets were her favorite but the sight of her father not eating with her makes her uneasy. This were the days where they don't eat together- The days where she eats while he watches her in awe. Miyara hates it, Miyara wants the both of them happy.
"It's okay, Finish them all" Win pushed the plate back causing Miyara to drop her shoulders. Piercing the other nugget she rapidly ate the food. "Eat the other one Papa. I really don't want to eat anymore" She exclaimed pushing the plate back to Win. Win having no choice, He grabbed the nugget and finally ate it with her.
"Remember what I told you Miyara. Be nice to them and always focus to your teachers and studies" Win warned as they both walked to school. Fortunately, He can drop her to her classroom to make sure she's safe. The anxiety grew inside Win yet he stayed calm.
"Yes I will. Today I'll promise you I will get a star!" She boosted confidentially making Win chuckle at his daughter. "Also if people are being mean to you fight back and tell the teacher" Win joked at the fight back part, He can't imagine himself being at the guidance office at her first day of school. "Or you can just say no" Miyara nodded happily while she walks-skips her way to her new classroom.
"You must be this cute little girl's father" The teacher said with a smile, bending her body to take a closer look at Miyara who was hiding shyly on Win's legs. "What is your name?" She asked waiting patiently yet the girl didn't answer. Win lightly pushed his daughter and nodded towards the teacher. "Hello, I'm Miyara" Miyara introduced herself while bowing.
The teacher encouraged Miyara to be with her classmates. She hesitantly looked at her father, Win pulled Miyara to a warm embrace whilst planting a kiss on her forehead. "Go on, I'll pick you up later" Miyara smiled joyfully as she waved and ran to her seat.
Win waved excitedly before turning his way outside the school. He still has to be on his office job- which he hates so much. Win walked heading towards the main area where all the business and stuff that even he can't understand.
As he walks the large amount of incoming students peaked his interest. His eyes followed them to see a old yet grand campus- his former university. One of the top students in the field of medicine when suddenly all things changed in a blink of an eye.
"Hey, Win?" A familiar voice resonated to Win's ears. He swayed to see his former professor still working despite his age. "I was right it is you" The professor smiled gladly. He was one of the people that Win admired the most. The old man was wise yet cunning and strict, He always looked forward to his classes. "How are you? I haven't seen you for a long time!" He said tuning in for a hug to his former student.
"I'm well, Thank you. How about you Sir, Still teaching?" Win asked trying to get the conversation over with. As much as he loves to chit-chat, He still has work and he will be late by the time being. "Yes I am, Look at you! You must be very successful now aren't you? Maybe at this time you must have a wife" The old man said continually. Win sighed mentally yet He still plastered a smile.
"I don't have a wife but I have a daughter" Win honestly replied which shock the professor. "Oh my, I didn't know you were a widower" At that situation if Win can smash his head then he will but he can't as he still kept the smile he waved his hands for denial. "I'm not a widower. It's just hard to explain" Win replied. Saved by the phone call of his professor the conversation was finally cut short.
"I must go now. I'll see you later" The old man bid farewell while lightly tapping Win's shoulder. His eyes trailed the man until he wasn't seen anymore.
"My my, As expect from Mr. Opas-iamkajorn. Very good" The old professor complimented as he clapped his hands in delight. Win's individual presentation was a success despite all of the challenges he faced.
"Thank you Sir" Win bowed respectfully. This was nothing but another achievement in his academic life. He vowed to himself that nothing nor nobody will stop him now he's at the top.
"I wonder if I was careful would things be different" Win whispered to himself while staring at the glamour of the university. He was once enjoying his student life even if he needs to attend errands here and there. None of this was expected, His workload, Endless of responsibilities, His Miyara.
"But if I did I won't have Miyara" Win stopped as the memories of Miyara flashed through his mind. The day of her birth to every milestone she has achieved- He witnessed it all, It cherish it all. One has to sacrifice for the other. Bending down as he wraps his arms around his knees hugging himself tightly. Soon tears started to flow.
"I'm such a mess, I'm sorry Miyara that you have a father like me" Win cried cursing himself of even thinking such thoughts.
This is his life now. Miyara is his life now. In this world it's just them.
