Chapter 2: "What's Up, Tiger Mommy?"

Liz and the boys are eating at a restaurant and Dean looks at Kevin and says, "Are you kidding me? You're kidding me." Kevin says, "What? Look, me, Liz, and Henry we're already planning on checking up with my mom." Dean says, "It's day's drive in the opposite direction. You know that, right?" Kevin says, "Yes. I understand we're in a hurry." Dean says, "Okay, well, then, what's the problem?" Liz rolls her eyes at Dean being so insensitive and Kevin angrily says, "Channing's broken neck is my problem! As in I'd rather not see my mom twisted into a corkscrew." Sam says, "Kid's got a point, Dean." Dean says, "Stay out of this. Kevin, your mom is fine." Kevin says, "How can you possibly know that?" Dean says, "Because Crowley needs her to be, okay? In fact, he's probably got the place stacked with bodyguards right now, protecting her so that when you do show up, they'll pounce on you both." Kevin says, "Is that supposed to make me feel better?" Dean says, "She's bait, man, plain and simple. And you want to swim right up and bite the hook? Look, we have got Crowley by the short and curlies, okay? All we need to do is find the tablet, whip up the spell, and-- boom! -- sunshine and sandy beaches." Kevin says, "Dean, my mom's all alone. She's surrounded by demons. Can you really not understand why I want to make sure she's okay?" Everyone looks at Dean and he says, "Son of a bitch. Fine. Let's go." Everyone gets in the car, and they arrive in Neighbor, Michigan. Sam's looing through the binoculars and says, "Tiger mom, 9:00." Kevin grabs the binoculars from Sam and says, "Where?" Sam says, "Left window. She seems okay. Sad... but okay." Liz says, "Check out the mailman." Kevin says, "Yeah, that's Carl. So what?" Liz says, "Yeah, well, Carl's filled your mom's mailbox three times since we've been sitting here." Kevin says, "He's a demon?" Dean says, "And see the gardener? Think that plant needs any more water?" Then they get out of the car and split up to get in the house. Liz has Kevin and Henry with her, and they walk up to the front door and Kevin knocks. The door opens and Kevin smiles and says, "Hi, mom." Mrs. Tran smiles and says, "Oh! Kev-- Kevin!" As Mrs. Tran goes to hug Kevin, Liz and Henry splash holy water on her and she gasps and says, "What?" Liz says, "She's clean." Kevin then hugs his mom and Sam says, "Do you smell that?" The boys and Liz walk into the house and see a demon and the demon leaves the body, but Liz says, "Et secta diabolica, omnis congreatio, omnis legio, owmins incursio infernalis adversarii, omnis spiritus exorcizamus!" The demon goes back into the body and Dean stabs her in the stomach. Mrs. Tran screams, "Eunis." Dean says, "That's not Eunis." They sit Mrs. Tran down and Kevin made her a cup of tea to calm her down. Sam says, "Mrs. Tran, your friend was possessed by a demon." Kevin looks at his mom and says, "Have you ever seen 'The Exorcist'?" Mrs. Tran looks at Kevin and says, "Is that what you've been doing all year-- watching television? Did you really have to kill her?" Dean says, "The demon would have warned Crowley where Kevin was if we didn't." Mrs. Tran says, "And Crowley is the one who kidnapped you?" Kevin says, "Yeah. He needs me to translate his stupid tablet so he can take over the universe or something." Dean says, "Which is why we need to get it so that we can slam the gates of hell forever with Crowley inside." Henry says, "So, that things like that don't ever happen again." Mrs. Tran nods and looks at Kevin and says, "Prophet of the Lord, huh? It does have a nice ring to it. I'll get packed." Dean says, "We're gonna need a safe house since Crowley's been to the cabin, so--" Mrs. Tran looks at them and says, "Safe house? I thought we were going to get the tablet." Dean says, "Uh, we are. You're taking a trip to a demon-free zone." Mrs. Tran scoffs and says, "And risk letting Kevin fall into the hands of this Crowley again? I don't think so." Sam says, "Mrs. Tran, all due respect, Dean's right. Crowley-- he's not just a killer. He trades in torment. And if he can find a way to separate your soul from you, he'll take that soul to hell and-- and roast it till there's nothing left but black smoke. Look, it's best if you let us handle this." Mrs. Tran nods and says, "I understand. But it's not my soul I'm worried about. It's my son's." Dean looks at Kevin and says, "Kevin, you want to back us up here? Came all the way down here to pull her out of the fire. Now she wants to jump right back in." Kevin says, "Like I can tell her what to do?" Dean chuckles and says, "All right. Coming with us has conditions-- uh, hex bags to stay off the bad guy's radar and, uh, you're gonna have to get inked up." Kevin says, "Do what, now?" Sam pulls his shirt down to show Kevin his anti-possession tattoo and says, "Yeah, uh... you, too, shortstop. Keeps the demons out." Mrs. Tran says, "Fine." Dean says, "Really?" Mrs. Tran says, "What, like it's my first tattoo?" Mrs. Tran walks away, and Liz is impressed. Later, they go to the tattoo parlor and Kevin's getting his on his arm and he's groaning. Mrs. Tran is also getting it on her arm and she's just chilling because it doesn't bother her. Mrs. Tran sees her son struggling and reaches over to grab his hand. Dean says, "You smell it, guys?" Henry says, "Burning flesh?" Dean says, "Revenge. So close. Hey, how'd you do that reverse-exorcism thing?" Liz says, "Just said the verse backwards." Dean's impressed because he didn't know you could do that.
