Dean walks into the main room with files in his hands and hands them to Sam. Sam says, "Please tell me that's everything." Dean says, "Yeah. No, not even close. You see, the Men of Letters kept files on every demonic possession for the last 300 years, I mean, we've got Borden, Lizzy, all the wat to Crane, Ichabod." Sam then groans and Dean says, "How you feeling?" Sam says, "Honestly, um... my, uh, my whole-body hurts. I feel nauseous and like I'm starving at the same time, and everything smells like rotting meat." Dean says, "I've had that hangover. Jager, man. Maybe you should, uh, take a break, get some air." Sam says, "Dean, the only thing that's going to make me feel better is finishing this." Dean says, "All right. Well, I'll go get you some grub, keep your strength up." Castiel walks into the room and says, "Morning. I like this bunker. It's orderly." Sam says, "Oh, give us a few months. Dean wants to get a ping-pong table." Castiel says, "I've heard of that. It's a game, right?" Then Castiel groans and Sam says, "Are you okay?" Castiel says, "My wound isn't healing as quickly as I'd hoped... but I am getting better. And you're getting worse." Sam says, "Well, two trials down, one to go." Castiel says, "And the final test, do you-- you know what it is?" Sam says, "I have to cure a demon." Castiel says, "Of what?" Sam says, "That's what we're trying to figure out."

Meanwhile with Dean in the kitchen, Dean gather's what they have in the kitchen to make for Sam, and he sees Liz walk in and he says, "Hey." Liz says, "Hey." Dean says, "Do you want to tell me why I found a heart in the fridge?" Liz says, "I need it for the spell I'm doing." Dean slowly nods and says, "What are the rest of the ingredients?" Liz says, "Well, other than the heart, I need Sam's DNA, and my blood." Dean nods and says, "You know, you could still join us. We have the last trial." Liz sighs and says, "Dean." Dean says, "I know you're worried he's not gonna make it, but once we close the gates for good everything can go back to normal." Liz says, "You really think so?" Dean nods and says, "Yeah, I do." Liz nods and looks at the food he has on a tray and says, "You're not seriously giving that to Sam, are you?" Dean says, "Yeah, what's wrong with it?" Liz says, "That's basically junk, he can't eat that." Dean says, "Well, we're running low on groceries." Liz says, "Then I'll go to the store and get real food." Dean nods and says, "Okay." As Liz gets herself a cup of coffee, Dean carries the tray to Sam and says, "Soup's on. There we go. I think this is, uh..." Dean drinks some of the beer and he continues to say, "Oh, it's still good." Sam looks at Dean and says, "A half-drunk beer, jerky, and three peanut-butter cups?" Dean says, "Yeah, we're-- we're running a little low." Liz walks in and says, "And that's why I'm making a run." Liz ignores Castiel because Dean told her he lost the angel tablet. Liz makes a move to the stairs, but stops when Castiel says, "Liz, I can go with you. Liz. I'm sorry." Liz turns to face Castiel and says, "For what?" Castiel looks down and says, "For everything." Liz says, "Everything? Like, uh... like ignoring us?" Castiel says, "Yes." Liz says, "Or like running off with the angel tablet, then losing it 'cause you didn't trust me? You didn't trust me." Castiel says, "Yes." Liz says, "Yeah. That's not gonna cut it. Not this time. I thought we were family, Cass. Maybe I was wrong to think that we'd have angel on our side to protect us, but I never thought you would betray me... us." Castiel looks heartbroken at Liz and says, "Liz, I thought I was doing the right thing." Liz says, "Yeah, you always do, but I can't forgive you for this. Not now at least." Liz then walks up the stairs and out the bunker. Later, Sam and Dean go to room 7B to find some files. The boys walk in, and Sam says, "That was intense." Dean says, "Yeah, it was. I would've definitely been a little harsher than that." Sam shakes his head at Dean and says, "You think she'll be, okay?" Dean says, "Liz, is a tough girl. She just needs some space. What are we supposed to be looking for down here?" Dean turns on his flashlight and Sam says, "Uh, anything on case 1138. It was a class 5 infernal event-- St. Louis, March 8, 1957.\" Dean says, "'Class 5 infernal event'?" Sam says, "Yeah. See, The Letters have this whole rating system. "The Exorcist" would have been a class 2." Dean says, "All right, so, what makes this puppet show so special?" Sam says, "It was weird." Dean says, "Weird how?" Sam says, "No clue. One of the files just had a note written in the margin about room 7B and the word "Weird" with three exclamation points." Dean says, "Good times." Sam says, "Yeah." Dean then sees a marking on the ground and says, "Hmm." Sam finds the file and says, "Got it." Dean says, "Sammy, check this out." Dean grabs the shelving and pulls it back and opens it to reveal a room. Sam flashes his light on the ground and says, "Is that a devil's trap?" Dean says, "It takes up half the room." The notice chains on the walls and Dean says, "These chains-- they have spell work etched into them." Sam says, "So, we have a dungeon." Dean smiles at Sam and says, "Finally. What do you got there?" Sam puts his flashlight in his mouth and opens the envelope and takes out a a film that goes into an old projector. Sam says, "Movie night?" Later, the boys and Castiel gather around the table to watch what's on the film. They even made popcorn. As they watch the film, they see the Men of Letters try to cure a demon with human blood, but it didn't work. The film stops and Dean says, "Well, that was weird... with three exclamation points." Sam says, "That wasn't a normal exorcism. They changed the words." Castiel says, "I believe "Lustra" is Latin for wash or cleanse." Dean says, "Oh, yeah, 'cause that was the freakiest thing was the vocabulary. What about the bloody high five or the chest burster? Anything else on the film, like director's commentary, sequel, maybe?" Sam says, "Yeah, listen to this. The older priest, Max Thompson, bit the dust in '58, but the younger one is still alive and still in St. Louis." Dean says, "Think this kind of weird is worth the drive?" Sam says, "Dean, everything in those folders-- the possessions, the deals, all of it-- we've seen that before, but that-- that was all new. Yeah, it's worth the drive." Dean says, "All right. Let's roll." As Castiel gets up, Dean says, "Not you." Castiel says, "Sam is more damaged than I am." Dean says, "Yeah, well, you know, even banged up, Sammy comes through." Castiel says, "Dean, I just want to help." Dean says, "We don't need your help. Just stay here and-- and get better." Later, the boys arrive in St. Louis, Missouri. Father Simon says, "Father Thompson had some unorthodox ideas, which is why The Men of Letters were interested." Sam says, "Unorthodox how?
Father Simon says, "He believed demons could be saved." Sam says, "What exactly do you mean, 'Saved'?" Father Simon says, "A demon is a human soul, twisted and corrupted by its time in hell. Father Thompson believed that you could wash that taint away and restore their humanity." Dean says, "So, what, they just stay in whatever schmuck they're possessing and-- and get a ticket upstairs?" Father Simon says, "I wish I knew." Sam says, "Okay, but this-- this ritual... can cure a demon?" Father Simon says, "I suppose, if it worked, but that night, something went terribly wrong. The demon escaped into the world, and that poor old woman... it was horrible. I know Father Thompson kept trying. There were other possessions, experiments, but I couldn't face that-- not again. And then, a few months later... he was dead." Dean says, "How'd that happen?" Father Simon says, "Something tore him apart." Sam says, "Did he keep any, uh..." Sam coughs and continues to say, "Did he keep records or--" Sam coughs again and he looks down at his hand to see blood. Sam says, "Uh, do you have a-a bathroom, maybe?" Father Simon points and Sam coughs and says, "Thanks." Sam walks away coughing, and Father Simon says, "Is he all, right?" Dean says, "Uh, no, padre. He's... pretty damn far from all right. That's why we're here." Father Simon says, "I don't understand." Dean says, "Well, short story is, uh, Sammy there is gonna take whatever shredded your friend and every other black-eyed bitch out there, and he's gonna get rid of them for good." Father Simon is unconvinced and says, "He is? In his condition?" Dean says, "Father, over the past couple of months, I've seen him do crap that I didn't even think was possible. I mean, sure, he's miserable and he's hurting, but you know what? There's not a doubt in my mind that he's gonna cross that finish line-- not one. So, will you help us?" Father Simon nods and says, "I'll get Father Thompson's things for you." Dean says, "Thank you." Father Simon walks away. Later, the boys are back at the bunker going through Father Thompson's things and Sam walks into the room and says, "I can't find Cass. You think he blew town?" Dean says, "Sounds like him. So, it turns out that, uh, Father Thompson recorded all of his demon-cure tests. This one here, this was the last one-- two days before he died." The boys listen to the recording and Dean says, "Do we know what padre was dosing number-one dad up with?" Sam says, "Uh, yeah, his own purified blood." Dean says, "Purified how?" Sam says, "Before he started, Father Thompson went to confession." The boys continue to listen, and it took up to 8 hours to cure the demon. Sam says, "Did he just... cure a demon?" Dean says, "Maybe. Could be take this hoodoo on a test drive?" Sam says, "Um, I mean, I have the exorcism right here. All we need it the blood, consecrated ground, and a demon. So, what? We summon a demon, trap it--" Dean cuts Sam off and says, "Or-- or we use one that we've already tagged. Do we still have dad's old army field surgeon's kit?" Sam says, "It's in the trunk. Why? Yeah, I think it's time we put Humpty Dumpty back together again." Later, the boys go to a warehouse and Sam says, "So, you really think this will work?" Dean says, "Dude, we got needles. We got thread. We've seen "Young Frankenstein" about a thousand times. Yeah, we're golden." Sam opens the box with Abaddon's head and Sam wrinkles his nose in disgust and he says, "This is gonna be disgusting." Dean says, "Uh-huh." Sam then sews Abaddon's head back on her body and then she wakes up cracking her neck. Abaddon sighs and says, "Morning, sunshine's." Dean says, "It worked. You owe me a beer." Abaddon says, "And I owe you both so, so much. I can't wait to tear out those pretty green eyes." Sam says, "Good luck with that." Dean says, "We figured kitty didn't need her claws." Abaddon is confused until she looks down at her wrists to see her hands on gone. Abaddon says, "Then I'll stump you to death. It'll be swell." Sam says, "Yeah, that's not gonna happen, either. The bullet-- remember?" Dean says, "So, you sit there like a good little bitch. We're gonna consecrate the ground, and you're gonna get to fessing up." Abaddon says, "Oh, I know this tune." Sam says, "I doubt that." Abaddon says, "Father Max Thompson, born October 12, 1910. Died August 5, 1958. Who do you think ripped him apart? Word got back to home office that Maxie was messing with things, so we made an example. It wasn't my most artful kill, but it was effective. And bonus-- before he died, he told me all about Josie Sands. I found her, and I rode her into The Men of Letters. And what I did to them, that was art." Sam says, "So, you know what Max was doing?" Abaddon says, "Fella screamed the basics... but it'll never work." Dean says, "You keep telling yourself that." Then Sam's phone rings and it's Crowley. Sam answers the phone and Crowley says, "Hello, boy." Sam says, "Crowley." Abaddon says, "Crowley? The salesman?" Dean says, "Try the King of Hell." Abaddon says, "This is a joke, right?" Sam looks at Dean and signals his head so they could talk privately. Dean looks at Abaddon and says, "Stay." The boys walk out the room and Sam tells Crowley, "Hold on." Sam puts Crowley on speaker, and he says, "How'd you get this number?" Crowley says, "Ah, first things first-- what are you wearing?" Dean says, "Oh, okay. Hanging up now. Hang up." Crowley says, "Fine. This isn't social call. I was wondering. You guys been reading the papers, say, Denver Times from yesterday? No? Well, you should. It's side-splitting. What the hell-- I'm sexting you an address. Check it out. Then we'll talk. Cheerio." Sam says, "Wait, what? Crowley?" Sam sighs because Crowley hung up and Dean found the article and says, "Here it is. Vic's name is Tommy Collins. Tommy. Why do I know that name?" Sam says, "Well, Tommy Collins, we saved him from a wendigo like forever ago." Dean says, "Okay, and what, you think that Crowley blew his head off? Well, what are we dealing with here? Some sort of demon-wendigo team-up?" Sam says, "Uh, no clue." Dean says, "All right, well, we'll pour one out for Tommy later." The boys walk back to Abaddon and Dean says, "As far as Crowley goes, screw him. We got everything we need to put him in a permanent time-out." They walk in the room to see Abaddon gone and Dean says, "No. No! No! No! No! She's gone. She's-- son of a bitch!" Dean goes to look around the building and Sam sees that Abaddon took the bullet out and he says, "Dean! Dean." Dean runs back over to Sam and Sam's phone chimes, and he says, "It's a text message from Crowley-- an address in Prosperity, Indiana." Dean says, "Prosperity? Didn't we work a case there? Yeah, yeah, the one with the witches and the baked goods. So what? He's going after somebody there now?" Sam says, "I don't know. We got to check it out." Dean says, "Well, you know it's a trap." Sam says, "Of course it's a trap. But a trap means demons, and we could use one right now." Later, the boys arrive in Prosperity, Indiana and they walk into the apartment and look around. Dean finds a fried body in the oven, and he calls over Sam. Sam says, "Is that... Jenny?" Dean says, "You were a great gal, Jenny Klein." Then Sam's phone rings and it's Crowley. Sam places it one speaker and he says, "What the hell are you doing, Crowley?" Crowley says, "Oh, moosie, isn't it obvious? I'm killing everyone you've ever saved-- The damsels in distress, the innocent whippersnappers, the would-be vampire chow-- all of them." Dean says, "How do you even know--" Crowley cuts Dean off and says, "I have sources and a cracking research team. When you guys hit town, you tend to leave a mess. Now, you're probably wondering why my droogs aren't in there giving you the bum's rush, so let's brass these tacks, shall we? I'm gonna gut one person every 12 hours until you bring me the demon tablet and stop these whole trials nonsense." Sam says, "We don't have the tablet. Kevin took it and--" Crowley cuts Sam off and says, "I took Kevin. Then someone took him back. Word from the cloud is that it wasn't heaven. So, either the cutest little prophet in the world is with you three, or you better find him tout-bloody-suite because time, she is a-wasting. About now, you're thinking of ways to stop me. You won't be able to, but you'll try because that's what you do. You-- you try. So, time for an object lesson. Indianapolis, The Ivy Motel, room 116. You have 57 minutes." Crowley then hangs up and the boy's race out of the room. Later, the boys arrive at the motel to find out that Sarah Blake is the next one on Crowley's list. Sam explains to Sarah what's happening, and she says, "So, a demon named Crowley is gonna kill me in... 16 minutes." Sam says, "No. No, he's not." Then there's a knock on the door and Sam answers it and it's Dean. Dean walks in with a bag of supplies and and says, "Sarah, long time. What you doing in Indy?" Sarah says, "I... was scouting an estate sale for my dad." Sam says, "Look, we're gonna put devil's traps everywhere-- the windows, the door. We've got holy water, an exorcism ready to play on a loop, and anything that comes through that door-- it's meat. Look, I know this is insane, but insane is kind of what we do. Well keep you safe." Sarah says, "Okay." Dean says, "Okay? That's it?" Sarah says, "You've done it before." The boys get the room ready, and Sam looks at Sarah's ring and says, "That's new." Sam sits next to Sarah, and she smiles and says, "Yeah, I... his name is Ian. He works search and rescue. Guess I have a type. Our daughter, Bess-- she'll be one in a month." Sam says, "That's, uh, great. I mean it. I'm really, uh... I'm really happy for you." Sarah says, "Thanks, Sam. And what about you?" Sam says, "Me? Pretty much the same, I guess." Sarah smiles and says, "No, you're not. You're not the same. Look, it's been years, and I can't even imagine the things you've been through. But I don't know. You just seem... more focused, confident, like... like you know what you want. You grew up, Sam." Sam smiles and Sarah continues to say, "I do miss the old haircut, though." Sam and Sarah laugh and the phone rings. Dean puts the phone in speaker and says, "Crowley." Crowley says, "Five... four... trios...zwei... uno." Then Sarah starts gasping and holding her neck and she falls to the ground. Sam goes to Sarah and says, "Sarah! Hey! Hey! Hey! Hey! Can you hear me? Sarah!" Sarah's gasping for air and Crowley says, "She's dying, and there's nothing you can do about it." Dean angrily says, "You son of a bitch!" Crowley says, "Son of a witch, actually. My mommy taught me a few tricks." Sam says, "It's a spell. Find the hex bag." As the boys look for the hex bag, Crowley says, "I thought of sending in a few of my bruisers, really letting them go to town. But then, well, trial one was a kill a hellhound. Trial two was rescue a soul from the pit. So, from here on, I'm gonna keep everything hell-rated-- demons, et cetera-- away from you. Safe side and all that-- plus, I just thought it seemed fitting. From what I understand, Sammy took that bird's breath away. What's the line? Saving people, hunting things-- the family business. Well, I think the people you save, they're how you justify your pathetic little lives. The alcoholism, the collateral damage, the pain you've caused-- the one thing that allows you to sleep at night, the one thing is knowing that these folks are out there, still out there happy, and healthy because of you, you great, big, bloody heroes." Sam goes over to Sarah and says, "Hey! Hey! Hey! You're gonna be okay. Sarah?" Crowley says, "They're your life's work, and I'm going to rip it apart piece by piece because I can, because you can't stop me, and because when they're all gone, what will you have left?" Sarah then stops gasping and she's dead. Sam says, "No, no, no, no. No. No, please, no." Crowley says, "You want to keep those people alive. I want complete and utter surrender. The tablet, the trials-- you'll give them up, or we'll keep doing this dance. Your choice, my darlings." Then Crowley hangs up and Dean throws the phone angrily and it smashes into pieces, and they see the hex bag was in the phone all along." Later, the boys go back to the bunker and Dean says, "You, okay?" Sam looks at Dean and says, "What do you think?" Dean says, "Look, I know it's bad right now, okay, but we stick to the plan. We shut down hell." Sam says, "How, exactly?" Dean says, "We get a demon--" Sam cuts Dean off and says, "You heard Crowley. He's not gonna let one near us, and without a demon, all we can do is sit back and watch people we know, people we saved, die like Sarah." Dean says, "So, what are you saying?" Sam says, "I'm saying... maybe this isn't one we can win. Maybe we should just take the deal." Dean says, "We'll figure this out. We will. Man, we'll get it done. We'll kick it in the ass like we always do. Are you with me?"
