Dean's going through the Men of Letter's artifacts, Sam's on his computer, and Liz is reading through Natalie's old books. Dean finds a spear and says, "What the hell is this? Spear of Destiny? What is this-- God's toothpick? You know, would it have killed these asshats to label these boxes in something other than hieroglyphics? It's ridiculous. Hey. Have either of you been listening to me?" Liz hasn't been paying attention and Sam says, "Yeah. It's, uh... fascinating stuff. You should probably, uh, write it all down in your journal for the archives, you know." Dean says, "Yeah, thanks. You're a lot of help." Sam then starts coughing and that grabs Liz's attention, and she looks at Sam coughing into a napkin and she softly says, "Sammy, you, okay?" Sam clears his throat and says, "Yeah, I'm fine. Just, uh, wrong pipe." Liz nods not believing Sam. Sam drinks his drink and Liz goes back to what she was reading. Dean says, "These men of letters weren't so boring after all. Hey, check this out." Sam looks up to see Dean holding an Asian porn magazine. Sam says, "What is wrong with you?" Dean says, "What is wrong with me? You kidding me? This is a first edition, dude. You know what this would go for on eBay?" Sam says, "No. Why? Do you?" Dean says, "No. Maybe. Shut up. You find anything?" Dean sits on the opposite of Liz, but next to Sam. Sam says, "I did, yeah-- uh, dead bodies showing up all over the Midwest last week. Benton, Indiana; Downers Grove, Illinois; Uh, Novi, Michigan; and then again last night in Lincoln Springs, Missouri." Dean says, "And how is this us?" Sam says, "Because each of the victims had severe burns around their eyes, hands, and feet, puncture wounds through the backs of their hands, eyes and internal organs liquefied." Liz looks up from the Natalie's book and says, "That sounds like us." Sam says, "Yeah. Also, no link between any of the victims. Uh, one was a real-estate agent. Another was a local historian. Woman killed last night was a teacher." Dean says, "So, Chupacabra. What do we got? Power tools gone rogue? Wait-- are we talking a-a "Maximum overdrive" situation here?" Sam says, "I don't know. Worth a shot, though. I'll grab my gear. We should probably leave in five." Dean nods and says, "Mm-hmm." Sam says, "Unless, of course, you need some more time with Miss October." Dean says, "What? Oh. Yeah. Yeah, make it 10." Sam chuckles and walks away. Dean smiles reading the magazine and walks to his room and Liz packs the books she was reading and as she goes to walk away, she notices bloody napkins in the trash can. Liz sighs knowing Sam isn't doing well and that she needs to hurry up and find a spell to help Sam.
