Chapter 6: "Southern Comfort"

Liz and Sam have food in there hands and they walk over to Dean and Sam hands Dean his drink and says, "Heads up." Dean says, "I caught wind of case on this police scanner. Sounds like our kind of thing." Sam says, "We weren't even gone 10 minutes." Dean says, "Okay. That matters why?" Liz says, "I don't know, Dean. How about because you haven't said a word to me and Sam since Prentiss Island? And now, what? You want us to shut up and ride shotgun and act like nothing happened?" Dean says, "You guys want to talk about Benny? Fine. Let's talk." Sam says, "Okay. How about he's a vampire?" Dean says, "He's also the reason I'm topside and not roasting on a spit in Purgatory. Anything else?" Liz says, "Don't pretend we don't get it. We know you had to do what you had to down there." Dean says, "I highly doubt you get anything about Purgatory." Sam says, "But you're out now, and Benny's still breathing. Why?" Dean says, "He's my friend, guys." Liz scoffs and Sam chuckles and he says, "And what about my friend, Amy? She was what? 'Cause you sure as hell didn't have a problem ganking her." Dean says, "Well, I guess people change, don't they? We let that werewolf Kate go, didn't we?" Liz says, "She was different. She-- You think Benny's different? Did he tell you he's not drinking live blood or something? And you believe him. Wow, you're such a hypocrite." Liz opens the door and gets in the car and huffs. Liz can still hear the conversation and Sam says, "Okay. You know, you're right. People do change." Dean says, "Yeah. I got a vampire buddy, and you turned your phone off for a year." Sam says, "Don't turn this on me." Dean says, "Look, Benny slips up and some other hunter turns his lights out, so be it." Sam nods and says, "But it's not gonna be you, right?" Dean doesn't say anything and gets in the car.
