"El, can we go now?"
"Yeah, we can. But first, I need you to help me?"
"With?"
"Hold my hands and pray with me. I don't think I can drive without that."
"Oh. Okay."
I took her very cold hands in mine and said a word of prayer.
"Amen."
"Amen. Ouff," she played with her fingers like she wanted to perform magic. "I feel like a superpower."
I chuckled. "Yeah, girl. Anytime you need it, I'll be your superpower."
"I've never wanted to tell you Em, but you're the best of best friends I've ever had in my entire life. Like, it's been 3 months already since we shook hands and I see you like my late mother," she hugged me, "happy birthday Em. I love you. I do."
My eyes were full as I held her tighter. "I'm grateful to have you. Now I see why Tony is madly in love with you." I adjusted to look at her face.
"What do you mean?"
"He keeps looking at the part of you without those silly comments."
"Shut up." She blushed. "He loves my silly comments." She stepped on the gas.
"I'll tell him to stop doing that."
Soon enough, we pulled up in front of the driveway of my family home. It was dead silent outside, so we were skeptical about going in.
"What if thieves have broken into the house?"
"Shut up."
We disembarked the car and walked in.
"You said Becca's getting married next month?"
"In 2 months. Her fiancé keeps postponing the wedding."
"Why?"
"His parents are decelerating the agreements."
"Why?"
"No idea." I opened the door to reveal Samuel, Fiona's child. Fiona was my mother's youngest sibling and we didn't interact because she never wanted to talk to anybody. Her boychild was the opposite.
"Sammy!" I lifted the little boy in my hands.
"Eh. Eh. Emiyi!" He screamed.
"Yes! My good boy!" I kissed him on his jaw. Elsa had settled on the couch, already covering her body.
"No, El. You're not doing that now."
"Emilia. I feel so dizzy that I think I'll pass out."
"Okay, come on. I'll take you upstairs. But I must find Becca first."
"Bec! Bec!" Sammy shouted in my ear.
"Okay, baby. Let's find Becca."
I went to the kitchen, but it was empty.
Where's everyone?
"Sammy, where's Mummy?"
"Da. Da da."
"Okay, out with Dad. Let's see," I muttered to myself, opening and closing every possible door in the hallways.
When I was sure I checked everywhere, I heard a sound from the attic.
"Beccs?"
"Here." She waved a hand without giving me a clue of what the rest of her body was doing. I continued walking inside the attic.
