The bell rang, indicating us to go to class.

The morning event was the talk of the hallway during lunch.

"That was a blow in the face! Totally groovy!"

"Diana on the spur of the moment!"

"The best way to treat a fool. A fool like Shawna."

"It's a bad thing to be snobbed that way."

"I stood behind Shawna, but I felt like standing behind Emily. I was afraid she'd pushed me away, since she barely knew me."

And where's the girl who owns the air of the hallway? Nowhere to be found.

I made a mental check on her routine. I knew it. Today her classes ended at lunch so she would presumably be in the school library.

I forgot about lunch. And I went there.

Emily

I got out of campus and began walking down the road when a car hooted behind me.

"Can I give you a ride?"

"You know I like walking, but if you weren't my friend I would refuse." I gracefully sat in.

"I can probably say hello, since I haven't had the chance to see you since morning. You seem to have been busy lately."

"Yeah. There's some research I'm doing and all, so I don't want any second of my time wasted."

"So you're telling me you're not gonna be free this afternoon?"

"This afternoon I'm gonna be free but tomorrow afternoon I'll be soaked in a hell of work."

"Mind if we go somewhere to eat? You probably haven't eaten anything since morning."

"How do you know?"

"Well, I just imagined that if you'd been busy all day, then you hadn't consumed since morning."

"I appreciate but I'm okay. You don't need to bother about me. I'll just get home and--"

"-- and I'm not making an offer, it's a favor."

"Then why me? I mean, you have all the girls on campus yet you still want me?"

"Why not you?"

"Because I'm just an ordinary girl and I don't merit being around people like you and--"

Are you ordinary?

"And what?"

"Your questions always tease me." I rolled my eyes and looked out the window. And he giggled.

"You gave Shawna the lesson of her life."

"What did I do?"

"So you even did it unintentionally." And he started laughing.

"What did I do?" He was surprised.

"You didn't notice people shooting you glances today, did you?"

"I did but I couldn't get as to know why they were eyeing me."

"You will know when time comes."

After a moment of silence, he spoke again.

"Emily Harte. Such a character." And began chuckling again. "So are you granting me this favor or you're just gonna walk away from me like you did to Shawna?"

"Don't you have practice today?"

"Nah."

"But you should have some girls to go out with--"
