I excused myself from Violet and headed for my room. I walked upstairs and removed my mask. I needed to think about what Violet had just told me.
A Basilwether saved me? I danced with a Basilwether? My cousin is friends with a Basilwether? And more importantly I fancy a Basilwether?
I didn't know what to do, think, or say. I stepped outside to my balcony and stayed out there looking at the stars and moon. I still heard the music from up here.
I thought about my dance with Tewkesbury. I smiled at the thought. What would my family think? Wyatt would be livid. Even just the thought of a Basilwether being near me is enough to make him enraged.
But a Basilwether even placing a hand on me?
Tewkesbury might as well have a death wish. But he did risk himself by seeing me. The thought of him doing that made my heart flutter.
I heard rattling from below me coming from the bushes.
"Who's there?" I demanded. "I will not hesitate to send my men after you." I told.
"Ouch angel," I heard a familiar voice. I knew it belong to a certain brunette. A certain Basilwether. "After everything we've been through?" He pretended to be hurt.
"Couldn't have been separated from me for ten minutes?" I teased him.
"I must admit, I've never craved attention until I met you," He said. How could anyone not fall for that? Focus Y/N, I scolded myself.
"Always the charmer Mr. Basilwether?" I asked him, addressing him by his last name. He had to know who I was, right?
"Like I said Miss Alderidge, only to the pretty girls." He said teasingly. It seemed like he didn't care if I was an Alderidge.
"I was slightly mad at Owen. He didn't tell me that you two were related." He muttered aloud.
"In our defense, we have not seen each other in seven years. You also couldn't have been mad that he didn't tell you that he was related to the Alderidge's, right?" I asked Tewkesbury.
He didn't responded. Instead he started climbing the vines near the balcony. He wasn't even allowed on the property, yet he's going against everything.
"What are you doing?" I asked him. "My kinsmen will kill you if they find you here." I told him. He was lucky that no one was even around. He made it to the railing and climb over.
"Owen hasn't though, has he?" He asked smuggly. I rolled my eyes at him. He ignored my eye roll an instead got closer and closer.
"Why didn't you tell me who you were?" I asked him.
"I could ask you the same," He retorted. He had a point.
"I thought you knew who I was," I snapped back.
"I could also say the same," He replied. I was getting annoyed. Was he just using me?
"It is my party for my birthday," I told him. "And, given our family history, I didn't have time to bother in knowing about my rival family's son."
"That hurt," He pouted. I almost laughed at his pout, it was cute.
"Do you want me to lie?" I asked him.
"You know, you are everything I've ever wanted." He whispered, pushing a strand away from my face.
"And you're everything I despise," I lied, putting my hands on his chest trying to push him away. I needed him to leave. I couldn't face him right now.
"Your eyes are telling me something different," He placed his fingers under my chin. I couldn't help but fall into a trance when he was near me.
"This is not Romeo and Juliet." I told him. "I'm not going to stab myself for you, or for any man for that matter." I told him truthfully. "And 'star-crossed lovers' is not my ideal type of relationship." I remarked.
He didn't say anything. He just looked at my
eyes and down at my lips. Why was he so infuriating yet so appealing?
"Why are you here Tewkesbury?" I asked him. I wanted to know what his intentions were.
"I really fancy you, Y/N" He said. "And I feel something when I'm with you. You can't deny you don't feel the same. I want to take you out."
"Even if I were to say yes, how? Our families don't necessarily love each other, remember? And if my family were to find about this, you and I will be dead." I answered.
My family would actually murder me if they found out. Going out with my rivals family's son? I would be considered dead to them.
"We could go in secret," Tewkesbury suggested, breaking me out of my thoughts.
"You are the Basilwether heir," I started. "My parents are the Alderige's. Everyone knows who we are." I told him. Every time I went to the markets, I heard people talking, looking at me, it never stops.
"We could go somewhere more secluded," He replied.
"I don't know..." I said uncertainly. I don't want this to be a small thing because why even waste my time? Especially with a Basilwether?
"Please, just think about it." He pleaded.
"If I agree, will you leave?" I asked.
"If that's what it takes," He quickly answered. I wanted to laugh at how desperate he sounded, but I didn't. It also showed me that he did want this.
"Fine." I sighed. I saw him smile which only made me smile.
"Thank you angel," He brought my hand up to his lips to kiss. I will never get over how he makes me feel with his nickname.
"But you need to leave, now." I told him. He nodded and slowly let go of my hand. I saw him climb over the balcony and climb down.
I watch Tewkesbury starting to leave until he turned around.
"Parting is such sweet sorrow, That I shall say good night till it be morrow." Tewkesbury recited Juliet's famous lines. I started laughing.
"Wrong words Romeo," I teased Tewkesbury.
"So you agree? You'll be my Juliet?" He asked, slightly smirking.
"No!" I laughed shaking my head. With that he left and I watched him from afar.
