Y/N had always known that the Alderidge's and Basilwether's were rivals since the start. She's known since she was born that she was never allowed to be near them. That is until a certain brunette comes and changes her world.

It is not a surprise that I love showing the methods behind my madness/getting inspiration from real life, etc.
So in the latest chapter (chapter xxiii (23)), it is clear that [Y/N] is trying on her wedding dress. Now I wasn't really descriptive in writing the dress because first: that wasn't really the point. Second: I wouldn't know how to write it.
The reason I wouldn't know how to write it is that I don't want to write something that couldn't be historically accurate, even though I don't write historically accurate all the time ;-;.
I also spent so much time trying to find historical photos or even portraits of wedding dresses in the Victorian Era (as this is the era that is the setting). However, I couldn't find many, so instead pinterest gave me these options:
(yes, i made a collage) first collage: wedding dress second collage: headpiece

Isn't it so pretty? Anyways, I was finding several Edwardian-style dresses which are NOT the same as the Victorian era. I think these are more similar to Victorian-style dresses and even same aesthetic.
I will say that I can totally imagine [Y/N]'s dress and veil as this famous historical painting:

This painting is possibly one of the biggest and most well-known paintings. (I actually learned about this painting in my history class last year.) It is called the Unequal Marriage by Vasili Pukirev. This is also undoubtedly one of my favorite paintings.

This painting symbolizes the Unequal Marriage of a young woman and an old man. It is mostly seen as a young bride being unhappily wed to an older man. This was normal in their society, their society being people who lived in 1800s and even before.
I truly love history and at the same time despise it. I hate that only just a little over 100 years ago women gained the right to vote in America. Everyday history is being made, we are a part of history.
I hate that women back then did have to go through arranged marriages so their families could gain more recognition, power, and wealth. It wasn't their fault, it was just how society was.
Power and wealth is still a problem on today's society. In some countries it's worse than others. It doesn't matter where you are, power and wealth will always be more important to many people. Anyways I'm getting side tracked.
But this painting really stuck out to me ever since when. I hope that I can even write a fraction of what women back them felt and went through.
Okay, I'm done ranting. But I do want to touch on about the little "wedding scene" between Tewkesbury and [Y/N]. I really really loved this scene. I actually hadn't planned it, but I'm glad I ended up writing it.
I wanted to have them argue because I actually was originally planning to have [Y/N] and Owen argue, but I've had a lot of arguing (there's more coming). So I wanted a sweet intimate moment between them before all hell breaks loose again. (sorry readers)
I really loved how it turned out and I'm sorry to any readers who actually did cry. I told you might have cried, I personally never cry while writing. Although one time I did, and that was writing one particular death in 'All I Ask.'
However, I do put all my emotion that I can while writing. I'm sure I'm not the only person/reader who acts out the parts. But I think it's essential to "put yourself in the characters shoes" especially as a writer. That scene was probably my favorite scene, the one that comes in close second is the waltz scene.
Also I'm warning my readers right now that you will continue to cry and maybe even in the next chapter cry (probably a little less).
I also wanted to add how I think [Y/N]'s engagement ring looks like. (It's not historically accurate but I like it).

There's no reasoning why I choose it, I just really liked it, and I think it suited [Y/N].
Anyways, this was low-key my spiel for chapter xxiii. So stay "tuned" for the next chapters, hell is going to break loose.
