Gunner
Once Quinn left the kitchen looking worse for wear Doc let out a sigh and ran a hand down his face. All of us are tired. It probably didn't help that I put so much goddamn stress on everyone while Quinn was gone but I got her back and she's alive. I lean back in my chair and let out a long sigh.
"So." Doc says making me look at him.
"What?"
"Church?"
Right. I needed to let everyone not involved in last nights events up to speed. We need to speak on it and I was going to have to bring up the cleaning up the club act for a few days while Quinn's mom is here. I was also going to have to get the DL on Quinn's mom from Quinn. I like knowing who is being brought into my club even if it is the woman I am in love with mom.
"Yeah. Give me a second. I don't want to go face those assholes just yet."
Doc smirks at me and instantly I want to smack the shit out of him. Little smug bastard.
"Come on princess. They're already waiting and are probably getting pissed you drug them in here."
Shaking my head I stand from the table and send a glare his way as I shove the chair in. "You sound like mom, you little shit."
"Well I did get her ass now let's go." Doc smacks his own ass only making me roll my eyes at his ridiculousness.
We head to church and as soon as I push through the door all conversation ceases. That's new. Normally I have to yell at a few of them to shut the fuck up. But not today apparently. They're all on edge around me still. They'd seen me lose my normally calm demeanor over a woman who is currently sleeping in my bed, waiting for her mother to show up.
"The Quinn situation has been remedied, obviously. As far as I know everyone is alive, right?" I ask even though I had no fucking idea if all my guys made it out of there. You'd have thought my guys would be my main priority, but it turns of there actually is something I will put before the club.
"Yeah. None injured either. Those fucks weren't as badass as they thought they were. Most of them crumbled after a few of those little foot soldiers were shot down." Tease shakes his head unimpressed by those men who killed women with ties to the club. It was easy to kill unarmed people unarmed and untrained people.
"Good." I nod, spinning a pen around my fingers. "Last night. Shane and Roy are dead and untraceable. So maybe keep you're ear out in the public. Just to make sure our tracks are clean and covered. I don't want any of this shit blowing back on us, which is a slim chance."
No one really says anything. They just listen as all of the guys watch me carefully. They're waiting for something. If I wasn't so fuckin drained I'd question it but I don't think I have the brain strength to do so.
"Anything else boss?" Rise asks through a yawn.
It looks like everyone wants to go crawl back in bed as much as I do.
"Yeah. Quinn's mother is coming up. She's staying for awhile, or so I'm told. I don't have all the details but when she shows up everyone be on good behavior and if you're partying do it at one of the bars in town."
"Are you serious? We're shutting down the partying?" Anders, one of the lower members asks. He's mostly here to be able to call himself a member of the Wolves MC. I've watched him use that cut I graced him with to pick up chicks cause that's what he thinks it means to be a biker. Easy pussy, loud parties and fast bikes. He must forget that we are a family, a community that's formed through bloodshed.
"I said party in town. We've got plenty of bars, and if you're fuckin someone go back to their place. Don't fuckin bring them here while Quinn's mom is under this roof. Got me?"
A few displeased murmurs go through the members but I could get a shit less. I'm not having my guys make me look bad in front of Quinn's mom. And I'm sure as shit not going to let them embarrass Quinn either.
"I asked if you fuckers got me." I repeat my voice irritated and snappy since I'm tired as hell and didn't need people arguing.
"Yeah we got you." Some of them respond.
"Good. Now get the fuck outta here. Go sleep or whatever. It's been a long week."
I stay seated in my chair ready to go back to sleep. But I couldn't. I needed to get Reece from Gretta's . I hadn't spoken to any of the ole ladies since right after Quinn was taken. As far as I know they are still in the dark on everything but I doubt that I'm right. Pillow talk. Everyone does it.
"Hey Dagger, hold up a minute." I call right before he walks out of the room.
He slows and turns to me. He looks ragged and older with the bags under his eyes bruising the skin there purple.
"What's up Prez?" He asks as he plays with the bike keys in his hands.
"Can Gretta bring Reece here? I'd drive to get her but I don't want to leave Quinn just yet."
Dagger directs a sad smile my way before nodding. "Yeah man I can give her a call. Last time I spoke with her she said Reece has been asking for you and Quinn."
I can't help the tired smile that tugs at my lips. I've got a good kid.
"Just tell Gretta I appreciate all that she's done for me, you've got yourself a good woman there Dagger."
"I know it. She's a pain the ass but damn I love her. I'll text ya when she's on her way." Dagger nods before he leaves the room.
I'm left there by myself once the door thuds shut. I need to get up.
When I make my way back to my room, Quinn is buried in the comforter with a pillow over the back of her head. She's snoring softly letting me know she isn't dead. Shaking my head I wander over to my side of the bed and pull my jeans off before climbing in next to her.
I want to pull her to me but I don't want to bump her back. She needs to heal and the best way for that to happen is for me to touch her as little as possible. So instead I roll to my stomach, clutch my pillow, and let the exhaustion drag me under.
When I wake up I'm on my back and Quinn is laying on top of me, her chin on my chest as she breathes quietly. I sit there for a moment and enjoy the warmth of her body and the closeness of her touch. I could die knowing she is in my arms as cheesy as that fuckin sounds. Then the quiet moment is ruined with a loud knocking on my door. Shit.
"Yo Gunner! Gretta's here!"
