Ross sat in his library his mind running in circles. Elizabeth deserved to be in prison for what she did to Demelza. Yet it was still Elizabeth, he once held her in such high esteem, could he really just turn his back on her. If he did not, would she try to hurt Demelza, and Jeremy again even succeed at it? Was he not at fault for making her believe he still had feelings for her when they had adventure that night? Even though it revealed to him that what he had was all he wanted in Demelza. She was his savior, his reason for living and his guiding light without her he would be lost. Demelza had never done anything but good for Elizabeth, she saved Geoffrey Charles, losing their Julia in return. Elizabeth had done everything in her power to destroy Demelza going as far as trying to trample her with her horse. What of the babe Elizabeth was carrying was it fair for him to place that burden on Demelza? Had she not suffered enough.

Demelza came into the library with Jeremy, Ross looked up smiling at his young wife, thinking she probably should still be in bed. "My love, should you not be in bed?" She said Jeremy, "needed to be distracted?" Ross felt guilty, he should have been taking care of the boy so his mother could rest. "Go lay down, I will keep him with me." Demelza shook her head, "I don't think he will stay with you." Jeremy clung tighter to his mother's hand. Then all at once he yelled "I don't want Lizzy's baby here, you go live with Lizzy. Momma me sta here." Ross said, "I don't want to live with Lizzy, I want you and your Momma," Jeremy yelled at him, she is going to hurt Momma or me, she bad, tell her momma to take that baby. Grandma sas yu to take care of ur family." Demelza said, "Jeremy would you like to go to see Benji Ross?" Ross said, "Demelza I don't want you out alone." Demelza said, "I will not live my life in fear." Ross said, "then I will go with you." Demelza shook her head, "I will take Jenny with me." "Demelza," Ross said, "Please." She cut him off, "You need to make some decisions, whether it be her or I, the decision must be made one or the other no more in between. I won't live that way again and I will not put our son in danger."

"That decision has been made," Ross said. Demelza smiled a sad smile, "has it Ross?' She began shaking her head, "She has to have some kind of signal from you, that you would still consider her a friend and more. I told you I would take the babe if you put her in prison, I told you this, yet you still have not made any attempt at getting her charged. No Ross, I believe you still want her within reaching distance. If that be the case," she sighed. "if that be the case go to her and do not come back. Go live your life with her." Ross said, "Demelza enough, I told you I am not leaving you for her." Demelza said, "that is the sad part you are not leaving her for me either." She turned and left with Jeremy going with her. Neither listening to Ross's cries for them to come back and talk."

After they left Verity came in, "you should have her charged for what she did to that girl. Do you not see her pain, besides her outer appearance her inward pain? Do you think if she had done that to any other women, she would not be sitting in Prison right now? I don't know who you are anymore? Maybe it is time someone saves Demelza, from you?" Ross got up went and got his coat, hat, and riding crop. He told Verity he would be back. He rode to constable Verge office. Ross explained what happened at the beach yesterday. He said, "my wife is in Mellon with our son if you need to see the proof of her injuries." Verge said, "did anyone witness her injuries?" Ross said, "Doctor Dwight Enys."  Verge said, "write out your complaint, then I will take her before the magistrate, you Doctor Enys and perhaps your wife will have to testify." Once he had filed the paperwork, Verge said, "I am going now to arrest her." Ross said, "my I come with you?" Verge said, "as long as you don't interfere. "

When they arrived at Trenwith They were lead into the parlor where Elizabeth greeted them. She said, "Ross, you have come to you senses?" He answered, "Yes, I have." Elizabeth notices Constable Verge behind Ross "constable what can I do for you?" Verge states, "Elizabeth Chynoweth Poldark you are under arrest for the attempted murder of Demelza Carnes Poldark of Nampara. She said, "that is absurd tell him Ross." When Ross did not respond, Verge said, "Mistress Poldark yesterday did you attack mistress Demelza Poldark at Nampara Cove with your horse. My horse got away from me tell them Ross." Verge said, "mam I need you to tell me what happened where were you when you first saw mistress Poldark." Elizabeth responded, "I was speaking to Ross. We were discussing his leaving his young wife." Verge asked where was Mr. Poldark's son during this?" Elizabeth said, "is this truly necessary, Ross say something."  When Ross still did not speak, Elizabeth continued, "he was with his mother carrying him." "Was she in the water," Verge questioned? "She staggered to the water I think she may have been a little drunk." Ross said, "no she wasn't Elizabeth she picked up Jeremy when she saw you heading your horse to her." Verge said, Mr. Poldark! Ross held his tongue; he did not want Verge to expel him before he arrested Elizabeth. We all knew of her tendency to get tipsy on port. I really am sorry for your lose Ross at least we will be able now to live the life we were supposed to."
