Ross and Demelza made their way down to the Parlor where Hugh Armitage and Lord Falmouth sat. Both men eyed Ross with disdain. Hugh was the first one to take Demelza's hand, "my dear Demelza I must apologize for the thoughtfulness of my uncle" his uncle bristled at this. Demelza just nodded her head not knowing what all her previous employer had told him. Ross was getting to the point where he wanted to tear both men's heads off. What were they thinking trying to lure another man's wife? Lord Falmouth said, "Demelza I never meant to make you uncomfortable. It's just that you are a perfect woman to take over raising my children. With captain Poldark away I thought if you were as lonely as I, we could help each other with our loneliness." Ross had to speak up, Excuse me gentleman but what I don't understand., is why you felt it was the thing to do. Trying to get my wife to leave our marriage so one of you could win her hand. I am hoping that now that I am back Demelza, and I can work on our marriage. I know I have given it less than she in the past but that is now over. I have come to realize everything I have is everything I want. Demelza blushed.

Lord Falmouth seeing Ross had Demelza's heart, Falmouth said, "my dear I have brought you the clothing that you had received as part of your salary along with the items we purchased for Jeremy." Ross was starting to boil, "I can purchase my wife and child anything they need." Falmouth sneered, "They didn't need these things but it made them happy. "Demelza could see the smoke coming out of Ross's ears, she said, Okay so let us go ahead and get some tea. Ross said, "sweetheart I don' not believed Lord Falmouth or Hugh can stay for tea, you know we need to take Jeremy to see Dwight, I also would like to take you up to the mine and see where things stand." Demelza said, "I agree, I am sorry Hugh ad Lord Falmouth, we have left our business without our input, so we need to handle it as soon as possible." The gentleman knew that their efforts were falling on deaf ears so they left realizing. Mistress Demelza had chosen her side and she was siding to with her husband, so they would have to look elsewhere for companions.

The mine was doing well, and Ross had invested well, he finally could give his wife and son the things that had eluded him for so long. Demelza worried that this would bring Elizabeth flying back but it seems her mother had put a stop to her attraction to Ross. Elizabeth set her sights on George. George still needed Elizabeth's bloodline to move ahead in society so when he asked for her hand in marriage, she gladly accepted now realizing that after their night Ross no longer held her in his heart. She didn't understand how he could have turned his back on her for a scullery maid, but if that is what he wanted, she would not suffer his acts of humiliating her any longer in public. The Red lion in when he announced to everyone that she enjoyed their night as much as he did. Proved he had no desire to save her reputation. That day plus time after time of him telling her he did not want her had finally sunk in. After their wedding George and how had decided to move to London. George was tired of living in the backwoods of Cornwall. This suited Ross fine, George agreed to upkeep Trenwith for Geoffrey Charles, but no one lived there. Aunt Agatha was upset with Ross because he did not sell Nampara to get Trenwith out of debt but as Verity told her Trenwith was not Ross's concern. It wasn't his home. He had his own family and Nampara was his homestead. Trenwith was to be maintained by Francis and her father they failed to do it so it was no one's fault but Trenwith's Poldark's.

A few months after George and Elizabeth's wedding, Demelza was baking apple pies. Dwight came in with Caroline and they sat down in the parlor to wait for Ross. He had taken Jeremy with him on Darkie to see the John Tregles, who had children the same age. Ruth would flirt with Ross nonstop to the point where John asked Ross if he would consider the trading wives for a couple of weeks. Ross gave John a smirk, there is nothing that your or your wife could offer me to give my wife to another man. She is mine and mine alone. I only wish that I could make the same claim that she can that I am the only man she has ever had. No sir I would not and if you ever suggest something so deplorable again. I will show you who the best wrestler is in the district. When Ruth found out what Ross had said she was furious to the point where she would not let her kids or John speak to the Poldark's for a month.
