Chapter 7

*September 5, 2024 | Study Abroad in South Korea*
Today, my first semester of my study abroad program in South Korea begins. I'll be attending Yonsei University as a language student, studying Korean for a whole school year. The dorm I'll be staying in at Yonsei University is called International House. The dorm style is double room. The primary language spoken in the dorm is English. Since I'm a Korean language student, my roommate is a native Korean who is a student at Yonsei University. She will help me improve my Korean speaking skills. Her name is Choi Yeji. She is the same age as me, born in 2003. In fact, she is exactly one month older than me. Her birthday is October 10, 2003, while my birthday is November 10, 2003. When Yeji asked me about my engagement ring, I explained it to her.
"이건 제 약혼반지예요." I said(This is my engagement ring)
Yeji gasps, "약혼자가 누구죠?" (Who is your fiancé?)
"너는 이람이 Colby Brock에요." I said(His name is Colby Brock)
"그는 몇 살입니까?" Yeji asked(How old is he?)
"그는 1997년 1월 2일에 태어났습니다." I said(He was born January 2, 1997)
"그는 당신보다 6살 많아요?" Yeji asked(He is 6 years older than you?)
네, 마자요." I said(Yeah, that's right)
"오." Yeji said(Oh)

After getting to know my roommate and telling her a bit about my past, growing up, classes begin at 9AM tomorrow morning. The international students have a day to get acclimated to their new Korean university environment. I head to the Yonsei University school store. I want to buy a varsity jacket as something to remember my time here at Yonsei University. I order a large-sized Yonsei University varsity jacket. The varsity jacket looks like this:

Then, I head out and decide to visit some K-pop entertainment companies. The first company I go visit is SM Entertainment. I head to the café first, ordering an NCT themed coffee called Cherry Bomb. It's a cherry flavored iced latte. Upon trying it for the first time, it's delicious. While I'm just chilling in the café, I spot a few members of NCT walk in. This company is home to groups such as; SHINee, EXO, Red Velvet, NCT and all their sub units, and Super Junior. The members of NCT who walked in are; Mark, Johnny, and Jaehyun. I knew this would be my only chance to meet some K-pop idols, so I approach them.
"Uh, hi guys." I said.
"Hey, how's it going?" Johnny asked.
"I'm good. How are you guys?" I asked.
"We're good. Say, what's your name?" Mark asked.
"My name is Raeshel. I'm currently a language student at Yonsei University. I'll be studying Korean there for the whole school year." I said.
"Wow, that's cool." Jaehyun said.
"What are you guys up to?" I asked.
"We were just heading to our schedule." Mark said.
"Well, could I get some selfies and photos with you before you go?" I asked.
"Yeah, of course." Johnny said.
I ask Mark to take photos of me standing between Johnny and Jaehyun. Then, Jaehyun swaps with Mark, and I pose with them for some cute pictures. Then, I take some adorable selfies with Mark, Johnny, and Jaehyun. I have to let them head to their schedule after that.

I then head out from SM Entertainment and go to KQ Entertainment. This is the company where my ultimate K-pop group, ATEEZ, is from. On the first floor of KQ Entertainment is a 7-Eleven. Wow, that's hilarious. I grab some Korean snacks, as well as a 6-pack of Banana Milk. In Korean, it's called 바나나 우유. Once I've stocked up on plenty of Korean snacks, I store them in my backpack, then take the elevator to the main lobby of the company. From down the hallway, I hear a familiar song coming from one of the practice rooms. I follow the sound of INCEPTION by ATEEZ to the exact practice room from which it's coming from. I peek into the room and see that San, Wooyoung, and Seonghwa are practicing together. I gasp as these guys are my favorite ATEEZ members. I wait for the song to stop playing before I knock on the door. Wooyoung comes up to the door and opens the door.
"안녕하세요, 저는 희정입니다. 만나서 반가습니다." I said, introducing myself in Korean as Heejung(Hello, I'm Heejung. Nice to meet you)
"누구예요?" Wooyoung asked(Who are you?)
"저는 에이티즈의 광팬입니다." I said(I'm a huge fan of ATEEZ)
"오, 어서 들어오세요." Wooyoung said with a smile(Oh, please come in)
"네." I said(Okay)

I come into the practice room to Wooyoung's invitation. There, I introduce myself to Seonghwa and San. Since San can speak really good English, we have no problem having a conversation in English.
"San. Could you teach me the choreography to Deja Vu?" I asked.
"Why, yes of course." San said. His dimples when he smiles is really cute.
"I love that song and the choreography. I've always wanted to learn it." I said.
"Play Deja Vu!" San exclaimed.
"Ah, okay, okay." Wooyoung said. He plays Deja Vu and the song echoes throughout the practice room.
San does the entire choreography right in front of me and I watch in awe at his dance skills. When San finishes the whole song, he then breaks it down into smaller parts so I can understand the choreography easier.

It takes me about an hour to learn the Deja Vu choreography. Once I've learned it fully, San and I put it all together and dance together. I feel really cool for having learned how to do this choreography. Then, San and I have a moment. San is looking into my eyes, as if staring straight into my eyes. Then, before I know it, San is kissing me passionately. I kiss him back because I don't know what else to do. Then, I pull away and scream.
"San, I- I'm engaged!" I exclaimed.
"Oh, I'm so sorry. I just thought. You're really pretty, and my type. I'm sorry, I didn't know you were engaged to someone." San said, hanging his head in shame.
"No, no. San, it's okay since you didn't know. Can we still be friends? May I have your KakaoTalk ID?" I asked.
"Ah, okay. Here." San said.
I scan San's KakaoTalk QR code and we become friends on KakaoTalk. Now, how am I going to explain to Colby that I accidentally kissed someone else, who just so happens to be famous as well? This is going to be really hard to explain to him. . .
