*October 2, 2025 | The Birth*
Today is my due date. I will be having our baby boy today. Colby and I have come back to Seoul, South Korea to have our baby. I told him we didn't have to go all the way to Korea to have the baby, but he insisted that he be born in Korea. I guess our son will be both a Korean citizen by birth, and an American citizen by his parents. We went to the Seoul National Hospital, where I'm wheeled into the birth and labor room of the hospital. Colby is sitting in a chair next to me, squeezing my hand, making sure I'm okay.
It takes 12 hours of labor before our baby boy is here. Dr. Kim helped deliver our baby. I told Dr. Kim that we named our son Taeyang, and his English name is Jasper Robert Brock. He shares a middle name with Colby. Dr. Kim loved the names we gave our son. Since we're in Korea, I have to fill out a Korean birth certificate and register him in the city of Seoul, in the Republic of Korea. His birth certificate has the following information:

Our baby's birth certificate is issued to Colby and I on March 2, 2026. We didn't get it in the mail until we were back in Hawaii. Anyway, once our baby Taeyang was born, Colby couldn't stop staring at him.
"That's my son right there. Wow." Colby said.
"Do you wanna hold him?" I asked.
"Yeah. I do." Colby said.
I hand Taeyang over to Colby and he gushes over his cuteness.
"He's so cute, so precious." Colby said, tears start falling from happiness.
"He's our precious little bean. Thank you, Dr. Kim." I said.
"You're welcome. You should receive Taeyang's birth certificate in the mail about 5 months from now." Dr. Kim said.
"Okay, sounds good." I said.
Colby and I will register Taeyang when we get back to Hawaii.
Then, the following day, we're able to leave the hospital. When we walk out of the elevator, ATEEZ is standing there with a big sign that reads:
"CONGRATULATIONS ON BABY TAEYANG!"
"What are you guys doing here?" I asked.
"We wanted to surprise you since you said you were having your baby in Korea." San said.
"Wow, well thanks for coming, guys. It's nice to finally meet you guys. So, this is the K-pop group you befriended while you were on your study abroad program?" Colby asked.
"Yeah. This is Hongjoong, Seonghwa, Yunho, Yeosang, Mingi, Wooyoung, San, and Jongho." I said.
"Sorry, that was a lot of names. Say it again." Colby said.
"How about you guys just introduce yourselves like you do." I said.
"하나, 둘, 셋! 8 makes 1 team! 안녕하세요, 에이티즈입니다. Hello, we are ATEEZ!" ATEEZ exclaimed in unison.
"Hi, my name is Seonghwa." Seonghwa said.
"Hello! My name is Yeosang." Yeosang said.
"Hi, I'm Yunho. Nice to meet you." Yunho said.
"Hello! My name is Jongho." Jongho said.
"I'm San." San said.
"Hi, I'm Wooyoung." Wooyoung said.
"I'm Hongjoong, and I'm the leader of ATEEZ." Hongjoong said.
"I'm Mingi." Mingi said.
"Whoa, you have a deep voice, bro." Colby said to Mingi.
"This is ATEEZ. They're my favorite K-pop group, and they just so happen to be my friends as well." I said.
"What is the baby's name?" San asked.
"그는 이람이 브룩 태양입니다." I said(His name is Taeyang Brock)
"His English name is Jaspar Robert Brock." Colby said.
"Nice name." San said, winking. He was the one who helped me choose the name Taeyang.
After meeting with ATEEZ, they take Colby, Taeyang, and I to their dorms where we all hang out together. San orders fried chicken for all of us. Once the chicken arrives, we all sit at the dining room table together and eat. I hold my newborn, Taeyang, in one arm and eat with the other hand. Once we finish eating, I rock Taeyang to sleep. When Taeyang is fast asleep, I hold him in my arms while we watch variety shows on TV. This variety show is called Man On A Mission. The alternate title of the show is Knowing Bros. It features idols from various K-pop groups. The show is hosted by; Heechul from Super Junior, Kang Ho-dong, Seo Jang-hoon, Kim Young-chul, Lee Soo-geun, Min Kyung-hoon, Lee Sang-min, and Lee Jinho. I honestly love this variety show so much. It's entertaining and hilarious. Colby doesn't understand Korean, so the jokes don't make sense to him. He just has to sit there and watch, judging by body language alone. I hand Taeyang to Colby because I'm getting into the show.
By the time it was 10PM, Colby and I left the ATEEZ dorm, and headed to our hotel room. We'll be taking Taeyang to Hawaii tomorrow. In America, Taeyang will go by his English name: Jaspar Robert Brock. Colby asked the hotel to bring us a baby crib to our room. The hotel employees brought us a baby crib. We place Taeyang in the crib for the night. Around 2 hours later, Taeyang wakes up crying. Turns out, his diaper was dirty and he was hungry. Colby changes his diaper, and I breast feed Taeyang when Colby finishes changing Taeyang. When Taeyang is happy, I put him back in his crib. Another 2 hours go by before he wakes up again. So, this is what being a parent is like. Sleepless nights are fairly common as a new parent. This time, Colby takes the role of rocking Taeyang, making sure he doesn't feel fussy anymore. He bottle feeds him, and that's when Taeyang falls back asleep. Colby gently places Taeyang back in his crib, Colby climbs back into bed next to me.
