I wanted to punch both of them in the face. Their laughing bothered me. It took all in me not to lash out on them. I was tired of Chelsea and Xavier. They enjoyed attacking me at every chance they got. It's like they're trying to push me to my limits. I wasn't sure how long I can do this.
"Hey. You okay?" It was Devin.
I was down the hall by some lockers that probably weren't being used.
"Yeah. I'm okay."
He put his hands on my shoulders. "I'm not going to let them treat you like that."
"No matter what. They're going to keep talking to me crazy."
"Not while I'm around they won't. If they mess with you, I can take care of that."
His voice got deeper and scary. It had me wondering what he meant by that.
"What do you mean?" I asked.
"You will find out. Just tell me if it keeps happening."
His tone was serious, and I could tell it pissed him off that they were irritating me like that.
"Uh okay."
His next move surprised me. He pulled me in for hug. It was the weirdest feeling ever. I didn't know what else to do, so I awkwardly hugged him back. He chuckled before letting me go.
"Sorry, I know you didn't expect that."
"Yeah I didn't."
I was standing still feeling awkward from the hug until the bell rings.
"That's our cue to go," he said.
"Well I'll see you later," I said.
"Okay little lady. See you around."
I made my way to the classroom. I tried to swiftly get there this time cause I didn't want what happened last time. But due to the crowded hallways, and the fact that the class was far from where the cafeteria was. It took me some time to get there.
And once again, the bell sounds as soon as I stepped a foot in that class. So again there was that only seat by Antonio. This time I avoided eye contact.
Dr. Reigns made us to do some acting exercises, and I volunteered to do them. Everyone was laughing at me because the character I played was a humorous one.
Once we were done, everyone applauded us, and I did a bow causing a few more giggles. It was probably because I did it wrong. Dr. Reigns reminded us of the Spring Musical before we left.
At home, like my dad told me he came home on time. He came in with a his eyebrows furrowed showing the lines in his forehead. Something was wrong.
"Miesha, would you sit down. I need to talk to you."
I knew what was coming, so I was getting straight to the point.
"So it is true?" I asked.
"What is?" He sat across from me not knowing know what I was talking about.
