It was the first day of the second semester. I was not excited at all. I didn't think anything would change. At least for me. I looked at school as just a place where I learned. Some subjects were more interesting than others. As far as people, I never made any new friends. I socialized only if someone said something to me.
For my back to school look, I curled my hair using a curling wand. Two pieces of hair was twisted to the back and tied by a rubberband for a new style. It was still a little cool outside, so I dressed myself in a pink sweater and black skinny jeans with leather, black boots.
Once I was done, I grabbed my purse to take downstairs. I put them in the living room and made my way to the kitchen. My dad, as always, had breakfast made. He was sitting in his usual sit at the end of the table watching the news with his morning coffee and breakfast. He had on one of his work suits.
"Morning daddy," I said.
"Good Morning Miesha," he said back.
I picked up my plate from the stove and sat down to watch the news with him. This was how school mornings are. I came downstairs, breakfast is made, we sit at the table and eat, and then I was on my way. We never really talked in the morning because daddy be watching his news, and I didn't want to interrupt.
I finished my breakfast and cleaned my plate.
"Daddy I'm gone!" I called out from the living room getting ready to leave.
"Okay and have a good day!" He answered.
"You too," I said. I shut the door and began walking.
We lived only about 15 minutes away from the school. That was close enough for me to walk. Since Ranea lived further away, I had to walk by myself. It did get lonely at times, but the walk was short. I can always put music in my ear or just think to myself. It wasn't bad at all.
The school breakfast time was over by the time I got there, and the teachers were telling us to go to homeroom. But I go my locker first to get my folders and binder that I left in there over break.
Me and Ranea had this thing where we meet up at her locker until the warning bell rings. So I headed in that direction.
When I got there, I saw how Ranea looked so different. Her brown hair now had blonde streaks in it, and it was straight which was unusual for her. But it was so nice. I saw that this time she wore her clear contacts cause I could see her brown eyes. She wore a skirt with leggings and a long sleeve blouse.
"Oh my goodness. Ranea, you look so different with this hair, but I like it," I said.
"Thank you. I convinced my mom to let me dye it yesterday," she said.
running her fingers through her hair."I'm inpressed with this complete transformation."
She had a face full of makeup. It almost made her look like a different person.
She closed her locker and leaned on it. "You ready to get this semester over with?"
"Yes I am. Halfway through it. We only a few months away from summer."
"I know but we're going to have fun. Check out the guys. And pass our classes so we can move on."
I high five her on that. I did want pass and have fun at the same time. But with the guys. I'm not so sure. I can't be with just anyone.
Me and Ranea talked some until it was time to head to homeroom, so we can get another schedule. Some people had one semester classes and would be in another one now. All of classes were one year classes, so my schedule was the same.
