A hand reached out to slam my locker shut. I turned my head, and Ranea stood there with anger in her eyes. She pointed at my face and walked toward me. Chelsea was behind her.
"How dare you call Devin and tell him to break up with me? What are you still doing with his number? You must want this beat down?"
With each word, she pointed her finger at my chest. I grabbed it and pushed it away. She responded by pushing my shoulder. I knew then that she came to fight. I restrained her wrist to prevent her from furtherly putting her hands on me.
"Look Ranea. I don't where all this aggressiveness came from, but if you keep on, I won't be holding back anymore."
"Ranea." Chelsea brought Ranea back closer to her. "This bitch isn't worth it. She will get hers later."
"You are right." Ranea calmed down.
I looked at this unknown person who was supposed to be my best friend. She changed a lot in a short time. Being with Devin changed her into this aggressive, wild, angry person. Her calm demeanor buried itself inside. Devin used the desire she had for him to control her mind and make her believe everything he said. He twisted every situation around to make it work in his favor. Ranea fell for it.
As I watched then walked away, another wave of anger washed over me. Ranea dressed different too. Her usual skirts, tank tops, and crop tops were nonexistent. She wore long pants and a t-shirt. Something Ranea hardly wore. I would just let her be. There was nothing I could do.
Although Ranea wasn't talking to me, Malesha seemed to like me and invited me to meet her other friends. There were six of them in all. I would make the seventh one. They wanted to celebrate Malesha's successful role in the play. I was grateful for the invite and excited to go.
Malesha picked up me and Melina. She barely uttered a word to me when I got in the car. But I didn't care. I just hoped the others were nicer.
We made it to restaurant in time. The three of us got out the car. Malesha pulled out her phone ancd read a text.
"They are already inside," Malesha informed us.
She guided us inside the building. We looked around until Malesha motioned to a table where fours guys were sitting at. One of them being Antonio. We went to the table.
"Hey guys. What's up?" Malesha greeted.
The three of them looked up. They got up to hug them greeting them back. Melina hung on to Antonio the longest. That was no surprise there.
"Guys, this is Miesha," Malesha introduced me.
"This Gerald, Keith, and-"
"That would be Jarquavius." One of the three guys slide over in front of me earning an eye roll from Malesha.
"Jarquavius, don't start," Melina said.
"But she is pretty. You know I can't help it." He grinned at me.
"Dude, leave her alone," the one named Keith said.
"Why don't we all just sit down?" Gerald suggested.
Everyone sat in their places. Malesha sat beside Melina. Antonio was beside her. Across was Gerald, Keith, and Jarquavius. I wasn't sure where I could sit.
"Don't be shy. I don't bite. Sit by me." Jarquavius moved over to make room for me.
I sat down, and Malesha continued glaring at Jarquavius making me curious about that. It was weird how he wasn't paying attention to the way she was glaring at him.
