My phone buzzed after school. Ranea texted me asking me to meet up. I asked her if she would be by herself. When she responded yes. I agreed to it. She was at the front of the building.

Hey Ranea," I said.

She turned to me. "Hey."

"How is everything?"

She tapped her foot on the concrete.   "Well I haven't seen my best friend since this morning."

"I didn't want to eat with them."

"Well why didn't you tell me?"

"Devin stopped me in the hall."

"Oh that's why he wasn't there. You two ate lunch together?"

"Yes."

"You like him," she accused.

"What? No. Not like that."

She gave me a doubtful look. "Right. But he likes you."

"Maybe."

"I can tell by the way he looks at you."

"I'm glad you're observant, but me and him are going to be friends. He's nice, but I don't quite know him yet."

"And then when you do?" She pushed.

"I will see what happens then."

She squealed. "Okay then."

"You are crazy."

"So no more sitting at the table?"

"Not for awhile. Sorry."

"Okay I understand."

A horn hunked. Ranea's mom was here.

"See you later girl. Update me on Devin."   She sang while running to the car.

I laughed at her silliness.

Devin and I chose a Sunday to go to the gym. Since I didn't have a membership at the one he goes to, we settled for a community center gym. It was smaller, but still held some of the same equipment as his gym. I had already been here for fifteen minutes. He wasn't late, I was just early.

He insisted on picking me up from my house, but that would a disaster. My dad would be ultra mad if a guy showed up at his door telling him that he'll be driving his daughter to the gym. I told my dad that I'll be going on a jog instead. It really wasn't a lie because I really did jog to the gym. I just didn't tell him the part about going to a gym to meet up with a boy.

A lot of people came here for it to be a community center gym. It was nothing but men though. I was the only female. Maybe the females were like me. They prefer to workout outside of a gym. It didn't go unnoticed either. Men were looking at me, and most likely wondering why such a small lady was here. I can understand though. It's not like I could lift any weights. I had no arm strength to began with. But for sure I had leg strength.

I refused to risk myself, so I stayed in the corner warming up. I did about fifty jumping jacks and stretched my muscles. I checked my watch, and it was time for Devin to come. On cue, he strolled in with a black muscle shirt exposing muscled body, and some black gym shorts with a white line on its side. He searched the place until his eyes landed on me. He smiled and I waved him over.
