I saw Ranea the next day standing outside of the building. Since she was by herself, I used this opportunity to explain the situation from the previous day. She deserved to know what Devin admitted to me about not caring for her. She hadn't believed a word I said lately, but it was always worth a try.
"Ranea," I called her.
As I approached her, she put a hand up.
"Don't come any closer to me.""Excuse me?"
"I have every right to fight you."
I paused to look at her. She couldn't have been serious, so I continued toward her, but she backed up and held her fist up.
"Oh so that how it is."
"You were all up on my man. How can I trust you or even be friends with someone like you?"
"Really Ranea? You are questioning my character and friendship to you."
"Devin has been. And after seeing what you did, I am too."
"I understand that it was wrong. I shouldn't have let him hug me. I was emotional. But he admitted to not caring about you."
"Here you go with the sabotaging. You just can't understand that Devin is mines."
At this point, maybe I should fight Ranea. Nothing she said made sense to me. I can maybe knock some into her. Ranea had never acted so oblivious before. What she didn't realize was that Devin questioned me about her friendship toward me. All he did was turn it around on her.
"You can't let Devin have this much power over you. It isn't worth it. He isn't worth it. Let's remember that we are friends who know each other better than some guy."
"Maybe I don't know you."
"You don't know me? You mean to tell that after 14 years, almost our whole lives, that you don't know me. You sound real stupid Ranea."
"Who are you calling stupid?" She yelled.
Devin walked up beside her putting his arm around her waist.
"Hey baby. What's wrong?" Devin asked.
"You are," I said.
"Stop this Miesha. You just won't quit will you?" Ranea continued yelling.
Devin turned her toward him. He put his hands on her face.
"Baby calm down. This isn't worth getting all hyped over," he soothed her.
"I know but she's really making me upset."
"It's okay. Just relax and stop worrying."
He pulled her in for a hug and kissed her. It seemed to relax her while I stood there feeling like an idiot for ever liking him. After they let go of each other, she turned back to me.
"Miesha. Don't talk to me anymore unless you admit your wrong and apologize. Other than that don't speak to me or even look at me," she said.
She walked off toward the building. Devin stayed behind smirking at me before he went after her.
I groaned very loudly before I stomped to the school. I opened the door and went straight to my locker. I ran my fingers through my hair in utter frustration from what was happening to me. It was too much to deal with. Ranea should know the games Devin was playing. It was obvious. But not to her. It was irritating how she was letting a guy get all up in her head. I didn't know if she loved him or not. But she was mistaken if she did. She wanted to question my friendship to her when I have been nothing but loyal in all my years of being her friend. Now a guy is in the picture that we are both associated with had affected us.
