Rosalie Kasten is out of luck and out of time. For the last two years, she's been living on borrowed time. After her involvement with the death of Edwin Pierce - Alexander Pierce's son - it's only a matter of time before Hydra comes for her.
James...
𝐑𝛐𝐬𝐚𝐥𝐢𝐞 𝐢𝐬 𝐧𝛐𝐭 𝐝𝐫𝐮𝐧𝐤. She swears that she isn't, and she tries to tell her reflection in the elevator the same thing. Being drunk right now would be embarrassing, so she won't be. With enough conviction, she can appear tipsy. She can do that. Really, it's Dean's fault for starting to bring her whiskey as she played. They go down so much quicker when she's gambling, too. Her reflection still looks drunk. Stupid reflection.
She doesn't even make it out of the elevator before the most delicious scent hits her nostrils. It smells so fucking good. The only thing she's eaten today was that cardboard cereal, and that was more than six hours ago. The keys fumble as she tries to straighten up her exterior. She tenses and moves every muscle in her face, giving her cheek a slap.
She unlocks the door and walks in. The smell is even better from inside, and she drops everything by the door, striding towards the kitchen.
"What is that?" She asks before her foot even passes the threshold.
Steve and Bucky are both standing in the kitchen, laughing with drinks in both of their hands. Aren't they standing a little close? Steve cocks an eyebrow as she walks in and chuckles.
"Aren't you the one always naggin' me about saying hi?" He laughs, and Rosalie bounces over to him, hugging him tightly while James continues tasting whatever is in the frying pan. Alpine is sitting on the counter next to the stove, supervising.
"Fiiine, how are you, Cap?"
"I'm good, Rosie, thanks for asking. What about you?"
She grins widely. "Had a few drinks, played a bit of poker, won about 5 grand, so pretty good."
"Yeah, that whiskey-smell lingers. You won't need this then," he says and grabs a bottle from the kitchen counter, waving it in front of her.
"What? I'm sure one more drink won't hurt," she laughs and tries to put on her most convincing expression – utterly failing.
