"... She said that she doesn't want to remember the past. She wants to forget that how of a jerk I was..." Kabir laughed at his best friend's words. "But I am sure, she loved you being all that possessive and obsessive. Girls secretly like that." He commented.
Karan shook his head gently. "I don't know. But she is still scared. I saw that fear again, lurking in her eyes when I asked her whereabouts."
The words made Kabir a bit confused. His eyebrows furrowed while he scratched the beard on his chin. Why would a wife be afraid just because her husband was asking where she was? He exhaled while thinking deeply. Fear comes when you have done something wrong that the person in front of you won't like. Maybe, Preeta had gone somewhere and Karan wouldn't have liked that.
"... What important is that she has started understanding me. She talks to me more than before. She doesn't even mind my comments, moreover, enjoys them secretly. I can tell that she is now slowly accepting me. But there is still one thing..." Karan stopped saying while looking at the wallpaper on his phone screen.
This was her best photo from the engagement. She was scared, but was smiling for her parents. She hated him that time but somehow, couldn't stop blushing when relatives had teased for her upcoming wedding. The compliments, the endless stares of his had never failed to make her red in consciousness. He smiled at the exclamation. He made her nervous and it was satisfying. She was attracted to him. But Kabir's question brought him out of his thoughts.
"What's that one thing?"
Karan blinked, exhaled and stared at the phone's screen. "She doesn't trust me. She was conversing with Prithvi that night. I wanted to go to them and bit the shit out of that moron. But she too was engaged in the conversation. She was talking, she was replying to him. I stopped myself and thought that I should give her space. That's what she had always complained for before. So I gave the space. But I thought that she would discuss it with me when we would be alone, calm in our bedroom. But she didn't, not yet..."
Kabir was slightly surprised and tensed with his confession. He had seen Preeta and Prithvi talking. He recalled the words what Preeta had said to him.
'Karan will unnecessarily get concerned. Also, it's not that of an issue. I don't care whatever Prithvi spoke.'
He remembered perfectly that when he had caught Prithvi talking, he was telling about his one month work here in Chandigarh. After that, every word he had said was to humiliate Preeta by insulting Karan. There wasn't any loss in telling his best friend about that. It would clear all the doubts. But he respected Preeta's opinion. She didn't want to get Karan concerned unnecessarily. She knew her husband would get angry easily.
Kabir understood why Preeta hadn't shared it with Karan but here, his best friend was making it a big issue. Preeta was right. He would easily get angry if she had told him about the conversation. But he couldn't just leave Karan at thinking like that. He finally decided to put some sense in his mind over this topic.
"Bro, maybe she just doesn't want you to get worried about it. She knows your jealous ass would burn if she will even mention his name to you. Like you said, she is scared." He exclaimed while observing Karan's face whose eyebrows had twitched in sudden tension.
"What does that mean? That she is too scared to share her thoughts with me. She talk to me without fear, she even retorts back when I tease her, then why not the important things." Kabir rolled his eyes at him.
"You are too damn obsessive. Can't you just be positive on this? She just don't want you angry. She likes you calm, romantic and charming, not the hulk hubby." He said while giving him a stern look.
Karan gritted his teeth in concentration. "But I am not a demon. I am just a normal guy. I don't know why this is getting complicated..." He felt Kabir's hand on his shoulder.
