11. HAPPY BIRTHDAY, BABY!

Jennies POV

I woke up with the sound of my phone ringing. I was about to turn it off but I saw Lisa's name so I answered. "Happy birthday baby! Wakey wakey! It's already 9 o'clock." She said excitedly and I laughed due to her childishness. "Thank you hun. I am awake now." "I wanted to be the first to greet you. I know you wake up late during weekends so I called earlier than your usual waking hour." "Alright. You did a great job" we both laughed. "So, I'll see you later? Go and have breakfast." "Okay I'll see you later." I hung up and went to get ready for breakfast.

Time flies so fast, it's already evening. I am wearing this red Chanel dress that hugged my body perfectly paired with my 3 inches Louboutin diamond heels. I am getting nervous. I never had such big parties except those when I was a kid where all my friends and neighbours attend. My party tonight will be held in the spacious garden outside near the lake. My father's business partners and some of my family members will be her. Also, Lisa's family will also be here.

I went down to the living room and saw my mom talking to aunt my Aunt Eugene, her sister. They both walked to me when they saw me. "Aww, my baby. Look at you! You are so beautiful" my mom was starting to get emotional. "Chaerin's right Jennie. You've grown to be a fine young lady. I havent seen you in just 2 years but I think you blossomed beautifully" my aunt Eugene lives in Italy. She must have been aware to the engagement that will be announced since she's home. "Thank you mom, aunt Eugene. You know we have the same DNA, right?" We all laughed and talked about school and aunt Eugene's daughter, my cousin Jisoo who is currently living in US and is working as an airline manager. She's 5 years older than me. Shes a pilot but she got tired of travelling. Typical lazy Jisoo. Aunt Eugene said Jisoo promised to be here before my graduation.

Not long after some conversation, the staff my dad hired called me to prepare. I was looking around to see if Lisa has arrived, but I can't see her. My dad went near me and said he will escort me. I was slightly disappointed not seeing Lisa. Where is she? Dad lend his arms for me to cling. He smiled and said, "You are so beautiful darling. I cant believe youre not our baby anymore." He's getting emotional again and I dont want to get affected. Before I could say anything, the emcee has called us.

"Ladies and gentleman, together with her father, please welcome our celebrant. Miss Jennie Kim!" everyone clapped. Those who knew me were in awe because they only see me in baggy pants and hoodie. Those who didnt know me were said they expected me to be just like my mom – beautiful and elegant. We went to the center of the stage and the emcee handed the microphone to my dad. "Thank you everyone for celebrating with us. This is my daughter Jennie. I know some of you are eager to know if she's single.." my dad joked and everyone laughed "..sorry guys. But I am also here to announce that my daughter is engaged." Dad looked to his left side and I saw Lisa walking towards us. She was wearing a pair of gray lady suit. She looked so handsome that I never took my eyes away from her until she went beside me and handed me a bouquet of daises. She remembered. She smiled at me and whispered, "Happy birthday baby." She kissed my cheeks in front of everyone. "Everyone, meet Lalisa Manoban. The daughter of Marco Manoban, my daughter's fiancée." Everyone looked happy and shocked at the same time. Most of them thought I would be married to a guy.

While we settling ourselves, Lisa told me she was sorry if I thought she was late and that it was my dad's idea. I guess they are getting closer huh?

We thanked everyone as the party finish and my dad promised them to send invitations to the wedding. I was happy and exhausted. Lisa also had to go home. But before she went home, she handed me a gift bag and said I have open her gift first before the others. She said to open it when I am alone. It's a surprise. I thanked her and bid my goodbye before I went upstairs, excited for Lisa's gift. As soon as I close the door, I opened the bag and take out what's inside. I cried when I saw my lost teddy bear. I told Lisa about the teddy bear my grandmother gave me that I accidentally included to the toys for the orphanage and had a hard time looking for it. I didn't know how Lisa managed to get this back until I saw a note inside the gift bag. It says,

"I had a cousin. She was an orphan before my grandmother took her in. I went to her house the other day and saw this bear. I felt like this bear was familiar and remembered your bear had 'Nini' embedded on it's foot. As suspected, it had the name. I asked my cousin if I could have this but she doesn't want to give this up because this have been her buddy at the orphanage. I told her about your teddy bear and promised to introduce you to her because she wanted to say thank you. So, here's my gift! Happy birthday love."
