23. MY DADDY

Lisa's POV

It's been a month since I saw her. A week of knowing Leo was mine.

A week ago, I went to the Park's hospital. Having Lee Minho as my cousin is such a big help. He's the head of the records section department and he had helped me find Jennie's records. According to data, Jennie did not have a miscarriage. She bled but the baby was fine. And that was all the data I needed to know that Leo was really my son. I also tried to contact Mr. Kim but I can't reach him. I went to their house but the guards told me that Mr. and Mrs. Kim had gone to a vacation 3 weeks ago not sure when to come back.

I haven't been well. I cannot eat and sleep well thinking of Jennie and Leo, and Jennie's other kid and her husband. I wasn't able to concentrate with work these past few days until I decided that I wanted to see her and Leo. That I just wanted to know my son more. I know she doesn't want to see me or even let my son know that I'm his dad. But, if I need to beg her, I would. So I decided to go and find them back in Texas. I booked a flight for the next day and told my cousin and brother to handle things for me.

After a long flight, I finally arrived in Texas. I went to the hotel to take a shower and hastily went to the hospital only to know that Jennie, or Dr. RJ Park, was on a vacation leave until next week. I wanted to go to their house but I think that would be a bad idea. So I went out of the hospital and took a walk near the park. I sat down on the bench to think about a plan on how to get to Jennie. Across the park was a school where little kids are already going out. As I watch the kids getting picked by the parents and guardians, I saw a very familiar woman dressed in suit with glasses on. She was standing in the gates, waving to someone inside. After awhile, a little kid ran to her and gave her a hug. Then I saw the kids face. Leo! I then looked at the woman and realized it was Park Chaeyoung or so-called Rosé, Jennie's first love. She was the one who took Jennie to the hospital that day, so she must be very close to Leo. She might take them away from me again if she sees me. I need to hide. I just need to follow them silently. So I got up and walk towards the bus station.

"Lisa! Hey! Lisa! It's me Leo!" a little voice suddenly shouted. I cannot help but stop my tracks. As I turn to look at him with his sweet smile, the shock on Rosé's face can't be described. "Mama Chae, She's my friend! That's Lisa! Come Lisa! Meet my mama Chae!" I wanted to run and hug him but knowing that Rosé is with him, I gently walk to them and pat his head."Hi Leo! You still remember me?" He smiled brightly and nodded his head. "Uhuh!". Then Rosé spoke, "What are you doing here? How did you know Leo?" I was about to answer when the kid beat me to it. "Mama Chae, Lisa gave me a juice in the hospital. I didn't have a money so she bought me one in exchange for my name." Rosé then grabbed Leo's hand and said, "Stay away Lisa. I know you know about him. I talked to my brother the other day. Please Lisa, Jennie is happy now. Let them live in peace." "I know. Park, please I just wanted to see Leo and tell Jennie that I am sorry for everything." "Sorry? Are not friends with my mom?" a little voice suddenly interrupted. I was about to answer him when a sweet voice suddenly made me froze in spot, "Leo? OH gosh! Rosé, you were not answering so I thought something has happened." Rosé did not say anything but stared at me. That's when Jennie realized something was not right, so she turned her head towards me and then her eyes went wide. "Mommy! Mommy, this is Lisa. Remember I told you about the lady in the hospital who gave me a juice?" Rosé then grabbed Jennie's hand and said, "Jennie, stay away from her. She might-" "It's okay Rosé. I am so sorry for asking you to pick-up Leo." "No. don't be sorry. You know how much I love him." Okay, that hurts. hearing her love declaration for my son. "I know. You can go home now Rosé. I can handle it from here. It's time for us to talk, too." As I heard her say, my heart beats faster. Jennie is going to talk to me. OH MY GOSH! This is it! "Jen, are you sure? She might hurt-" "It's fine Rosé. She won't hurt us. Okay? I'll call you if something's up." Rosé hesitated but then gave up. "Alright. Take care okay? Let's go get ice cream some other time, buddy. Alright?" She hugged and kissed Leo then hugged Jennie after. Ooooh how jealous I was. It only reminded me of how a jerk I was. Rosé boarded her car and went off. Then Jennie walk to the park black Audi and said,"Let's go Lisa. We don't want to talk in the streets. Right?"

Jennie brought us into a café near their residence. She ordered her coffee and also mine. Wow, she still remembered my coffee. I feel flattered and at the same time sad. She also ordered a milk and donut for Leo. After ordering, I was hesitating but I still asked, "Jen, how are you?" Leo smiled and said, "You know my mommy, Lisa?" I looked at him and smiled. "I do. We were friends before." "Really? Mommy, is that true?" Jennie smiled and patted his head. "Yes baby. A long time ago." The our order came and Leo immediately ate his donut. While the kid was busy eating and Jennie assisting him, I stared at them. The people who could've been my home. The people who could have called me family. I stared at Jennie and realized, she only got more beautiful than ever. Her hair grown longer and wavy. Her skin got a little tanned which made her looked more gorgeous. Her cat-like eyes which shines like the sun while looking at Leo. Her hour glass body which you would never thought had babies. There's my ex-wife guys. Please, don't be an asshole like me. "Jen, I just wanted to say sorry. I know I-" "Lisa, why are you saying sorry to my mommy? Did you hurt her also? Like how my dad did?" I did not know how to answer so I looked at Jennie. She just looked at me and said in Korean, "He knows why I was not with you but he doesn't know you or who his dad. I'm warning you, he does not like his dad for hurting me." I looked at Leo and asked, "What about your dad? Do you want to know her?" He drank his milk before saying, "No. I don't. If she hurt my mommy again, I would be hurt too. I think she doesn't love my mommy. I don't need her. I can protect my mommy." I looked at Jennie and she just said, "Told you." I looked at Leo and said, "No baby. She does love your mommy. So much. She did something wrong and hurt your mommy. She also did not know that mommy was pregnant with you when mommy left her. She changed baby. She's a better person now. In fact, she wanted to say sorry to you and to mommy." Leo stared at me for a minute before saying,

"How do you know? Are you my daddy?"
