Jennies POV
My conversation with my dad that happened a week ago kept replaying in my mind. I dont know how to break this to Rosé, but, here I am in the café where we usually had coffee thinking of a way to tell her.
Rosé is a 4th year medical student in Daehan University. She is 3 years older than me. Yep, you heard it right. Im 19 and shes 22. She was a top student ever since she started going to school. She was a genius, that's why she accelerated with her studies. And now, she only needs another year to graduate and take the licensure exam for her to be a fully pledged doctor. Shes also the granddaughter of the PCY Doctors – a chain of hospitals here in Korea with branches in America and UK.
We met at in a bookstore, where she bought the last copy of Mary Janice Davidson's Undead and Unwed. I was so repudiated that I offered three times the original price. She just laughed at me and said How about you give me your number. I'll let you read it first, then I'll have it when you finish. Would that be a better deal? You dont have to pay. And with that, I went home happy. That night, she texted me, letting me know its her so I can save her number. The texting went on and on – from goodmornings to meet-ups for books then dating until we became girlfriends. We were happy for more than 2 years eventhough we kept our relationship to my family. She was everything I could ever ask for.
The sound of chimes on the door brought out of my trance. I saw her walking to my table wearing her baby blue button-up shirt and khaki pants with a bouquet of Daisies. She gave me the sweetest smile and gave me a sweet kiss upon reaching. "Did you wait that long wifey? Im sorry I had to pass my biology report urgently. Happy monthsary! I love you." She's always this sweet. Eventhough it would just be a minute late, she would feel like she made me wait for long. "No hubby, I just waited for like 20 mins. Dont sweat it. Happy monthsary hubby. I love you too. I already ordered your favorite, here."
We talked about how the coffee and donuts tasted over the year and how she is excited for me to enter medicine after I finish with my Biochemistry course. Speaking of graduation, the feeling of excitement burned down.
"How are you by the way? I havent seen you in a week. I have been loaded with all this reports and thesis. And grandpa wants me to decide a specialty this early. You know.. because I want to us to get married using my own earned money" she happily said the last words. My eyes were brimming with tears. This should be the tears of joy if not for the fact that marrying her would never happened.
"Are you alright babe? Are you crying? Hey, did I said something you dont like to hear? Or am I pressuring you? I am so sorry she went to hug me and I cried even more. This is it, she has to know. I cannot keep giving her false hope.
"Rosé, I need to tell you something" I started. "First, I want you to know that I do love you. And I'm sorry.. Lets break up. I hate to this, but I dont have a choice."
