32. GIVING IT A SHOT

JENNIE'S POV

It's been a week since we had our little family outing – as what Leo would call it. Lisa has been persistent with her catching up with Leo and even with me. I haven't been using my car for a week. She had insisted to drive me to and from the hospital. She also drives Leo to school. I have asked her about work but all she said is shes having a break from it. She trusted her brother and her cousin to handle everything.

I was walking out of the hospital when I heard laughter behind me. I turned around and saw Leo covering his mouth while his other hand was holding Lisa who looked like a deer caught by the headlights. Leo then run to me. "Mommy!" I picked him up and kissed his temple and looked at Lisa who was smiling towards us. She was wearing a gray three-piece suit while holding a bouquet of flower. I blushed as she walked towards me and handed the flowers. "Hi Jennie. Uhmm..This is for you." I saw Leo winked at Lisa. Do they have some agenda? Hmm. "Thank you. You don't have to do this, you know." She was about to say something but Leo had beat her. "Let's have a family date mommy and dada. Please? Maverick said they always had a family date." He said with his puppy eyes. And who would say no to that? This is his chance to experience family. And honestly, I wanted to give him a family too. I looked at Lisa and she nodded. Then she took Leo from my arms and said, "Sure buddy. I'm sure mommy would agree with that. Right mommy?" Lisa said as she smiled. Wait. Did she just called me mommy? Why does it sound so right? I bit my lip before nodding. "Yep. Where do you want to go, baby?" Leo smiled widely and hugged Lisa. "Dada, I want to go to the park and have a picnic with you and mommy." It sounded like a whisper but I heard it loud. I laughed lightly before Lisa said we'll do anything he wanted. Before we got to the car, my phone rings and Jin's name flashed. I looked at Lisa and said it's Jin before pressing the accept button. "Hello, Jin." "Jennie, are you out of the hospital yet?" He sounded like he was in a hurry. "Yes, why? Is something wrong?" "Uhm..I just got called for an emergency operation. Dr. Howard was not in the clinic, so they have phoned me to fill in." I forgot to tell you guys, my brother is a veterinarian in the biggest Animal Clinic in town. There were three of them. So any emergency cases would have them called up. "Alright, I'll take Ella with us. Leo wanted to have picnic. He would be very happy if we could take her." He chuckled. "Picnic huh? I'll get her dressed so you can take her as soon as you arrive. Then we'll talk later." I know what he wanted to talk though. "Yep. We'll be there in 10 minutes." I told Lisa and Leo about the situation and they were more than happy if we take Ella with us. As soon as we arrive in the house, my brother and Ella were already waiting outside. I got down and took Ella before bidding goodbye to my brother.

Lisa had been the kids slave as soon as we got in the park. They made her push their swings and she happily run around when they wanted to play tag. I made my heart melt seeing them like this. Lisa looked my way and she smiled. I just realized, I don't just want Lisa in Leo's life. I want her in mine too. She does makes us happy. I think I'm ready to give her another chance. 3 days ago, while she sent me home, she got a little talk with my brother and I heard her say "If Jennie could give me another chance, I'll do everything to make it right. I'll make it up to her and Leo. I promise you, Jin, I'll love them more than you'll ever know. I wanted my family complete too." That made my heart beat like crazy. From that night on, I started to think about giving it a shot. I didn't realized that I spaced out until I felt little arms encircling my waist. I looked at the kids and wiped their sweats. Then I heard Lisa said, "Jennie, if you're very tired, we can go home now so you can rest. We can just play in the house." I looked at her worried face and smiled. "I'm fine Lisa, Really." Then Ella said, "I'm hungry mommy." Leo nodded. "Me too. Can we eat hotdogs, please dada?" Lisa was confused why Leo was asking her. "Why are you asking me and not mommy?" Leo looked at her and said, "Mama Chu said you are very rich and you can buy us anything. So when I have to ask something that involves money, I have to ask you. Right mommy?" Leo looked at me and smirked. Oh God, this little Lisa is very mart, yet very naughty. I just laughed while Lisa was surprised with his answer. He bent down to his level and smiled. "Ofcourse buddy. I'll buy you anything. How about our little Ella? What do you want?" Ella smiled and said, "I want hotdogs too, dada." We both got surprised by how Ella called her. "What did you call me again baby?" Ella must've realized what she just said so she asked shyly, "Dada. Can I call you that too? Can you be my dada too?" Leo looked at Ella proudly. This cheeky little boy must have taught her to call her dada too. Lisa was very overwhelmed. She suddenly hugged Ella and smiled widely. "Yes, ofcourse baby. Call me dada from now on. Okay?" She was so happy that she didn't let her go. She even lifted her up to carry her. Leo looked at me and shrugged before offering his little hand for me to hold while the other was holding Lisa. Then he told me, "I'm so happy today mommy. I wish we could do this at all times." Lisa looked at me and smiled. "We can buddy. If your mommy will let me." Leo smiled at her and said, "Then I think you should marry mommy again. What do you think dada?" He winked at Lisa before she laughed. "That's up to your mommy if she would agree to marry me again. But let's not pressure her, okay? I still have to work my way to your mommy's heart again." She said and Leo nodded like he understood everything. I was too stunned to speak. Before I knew it, we already going back home. Jin was still in the hospital when we got home. The kids were tired out so we tucked them in after changing their dresses. I also got dressed before going back to the living room where Lisa was waiting.

"Jennie, can we talk for a while?" She said nervously. "Sure." I sat down the sofa beside her. I then faced her and she was smiling nervously. "Jennie, I know I was the worst in the past. But I really wanted to make it up to you. I wanted to prove to you that I have changed. That I wanted to be the right person for you, for Leo. Even for Ella. Fuck. I never even imagine hearing that little girl call me dada. I never felt so happy hearing the kids call me dada. I wanted us to be a family. A real one. Please Jennie, give me chance. I promise to do this right." She said while looking straight to my eyes. She was like begging for me. I took her hand and smiled. "You've already proven me enough Lisa. I believe you. And yes." Her eyes went suddenly wide. "Yes? You'll give me a chance? Can I court you again?" Like she haven't started that yet. I smiled and leaned in. Then I crashed my lips with hers. I pulled out and smiled. "Yes, I'll be your girlfriend. And yes, I'll marry you again." She smiled happily before crashing her lips into mine. Before I knew it, we were already in my bedroom while kissing.
