Meredith was laying on bed and was bored out of her mind from laying down. She was catching up with school work and was currently teaching Amelia

"Mer, I don't understand" Amelia sighed

Meredith repeated once more until Amelia finally understood

"Do you get it now, sweetie?" Meredith asked as she brushed Amelia's hair to the back

"Yes. Thank you Meri" Amelia smiled

"Should I do your hair?" Meredith proposed and Amelia smiled as she nodded her head "Grab a brush and elastics, honey"

"Thanks Mer" Amelia smiled and took a seat on the bed while Meredith brushed the younger girl's hair and started braiding it

"Mer?" They heard Derek yell as he entered the room

"Hi. How was work?" Meredith asked him as she wanted to turn around a bit but winced in pain

"Are you okay?" He quickly knelt down and checked her out

"I'm okay" She groaned "Tell me about work"

"It was okay" He kissed her forehead "Amy, were you nice for Mer?"

"Of course" The ten year old girl laughed

"I'm gonna make burgers for us tonight" Derek smiled

"Yes!" Amelia jumped up

"Hmm.. Baby was really craving burgers" Meredith smiled

"Of course he was" Derek winked

"Can I come downstairs for dinner?" Meredith asked him

"I don't know, Mer. We should ask mom when she's home" Derek looked at her with pity. He hated that she was in this position

"I'm so bored" Meredith groaned and pulled her blankets over her head

"I know you are" Derek brushed his hand over her cheek "You can start PT soon" Derek kissed her forehead

"Derek, we don't have money for PT" Meredith sighed as she spent a lot of money on the hospital bills and she knew more was about to come when her daughter would be born

"Mer, this is about your health-" Derek frowned

"We'll see" Meredith breathed and squeezed Derek's hand softly

"Is the baby craving anything else?" Derek chuckled as he kissed Meredith's stomach

"Daddy's attention" Meredith smirked

"Oh really?" Derek chuckled

"And to stop at the bathroom" She sighed as she felt her bladder protesting

"Let's get you up and to the bathroom" Derek helped her up, trying to keep it as comfortable as possible for her but she still winced in pain as her hip moved

Later that night they had just finished homework

"And now we can spend some time" Derek smiled and kissed Meredith's lips "Did you hear, bean? Mommy can have some ice cream" Derek laughed as he stroke his fingers over her stomach

"Hmm" Meredith nodded but the pain was really bothering her

"I'll go grab some" Derek smiled and kissed both her lips and stomach again before he left the room to get her a bowl of her favorite strawberry ice cream

...

"Mom? Can you keep an eye on Meredith while I'm gone?" Derek asked as he had to leave to school. He was worried about Meredith because of the previous evening, the girl had been crying in pain during the night because she moves her hips

"Of course, Der" Carolyn smiled "Amy can stay with her while I have to quickly run some errands"

"Just make sure that Amelia doesn't tire her out too much, please" Derek sighed

"Of course, Der!" Carolyn smiled "She won't be home before 1pm anyway. Now go say goodbye to Meredith and then get ready to leave, please"

Derek ran upstairs to say goodbye

"Mer?" He quietly walked in but saw she was still asleep. He didn't wanna wake her as last night she kept crying in pain. He placed a soft kiss on her forehead, tucked her in carefully and left the room

"Was she awake?" Carolyn asked Derek while he was putting on his shoes

"No. She had a rough night" Derek quietly told his mom

"Poor thing" Carolyn muttered and felt bad for the girl

"Bye mom. Call me if something is up with Mer, please" Derek said goodbye to his mother

"Bye mom!" Mark smiled and ran out as well

"Bye boys!" Carolyn waved as they ran out of the door and decided to go upstairs to check on the girl with some breakfast

"Carolyn?" Meredith whispered as she heard the door open

"Hi sweetie. The boys just left, how are you feeling?" Carolyn asked and placed the bowl of cereal down on the table

"I'm fine" Meredith quietly said but Carolyn didn't believe her

"Do you want to have some breakfast? Then you can have some more pain meds which will keep you comfortable"

"Yeah.. Please" Meredith breathed

"How's your little girl?" Carolyn asked, trying to distract Meredith

"I think she's okay" Meredith smiled "She hates homework as much as I do" Meredith softly giggled

"I heard you and Derek did a lot yesterday" Carolyn smiled

"Yeah.." Meredith smiled as she thought about it "Derek kept talking to the baby. About how happy we are. About how Amy and Mark will play with her, how you will love her.." Meredith sighed, her voice cracking in the end

"We'll make sure she has a family that loves her. We already love her so so much" Carolyn promised the girl

"I just want her to be happy" Meredith whispered and yawned as she felt exhaustion taking over

"She will be happy. I promise" Carolyn kissed Meredith's forehead "Close your eyes, Meredith" She brushed her fingers through Meredith's hair and waited until the girl started snoring
