"Okay Meredith, I'm gonna help you up" Mark said and lifted her up while Derek helped her get stable on her feet

They had another ultrasound as Meredith was now 18 weeks. Her bump was very visible and she had felt the baby move recently. Her hip was still bothering her but her knee was healed but she didn't do any PT like her doctor had advised, she decided it wasn't worth the money

Carolyn and Derek weren't aware she kept refusing and also wasn't planning on going for her hip

"I'm up" She giggled as she leaned onto Derek for support

"Are you two ready?" Carolyn asked with a smile as she walked in the room

"Yeah" Derek nodded "Do you need to go to work?"

"Yeah so I can bring you if you want" Carolyn suggested

"Thanks mom" Derek nodded his head and helped Meredith downstairs and into the passenger seat, kissing her stomach before closing the door and getting in himself

"Thanks Carolyn" Meredith nodded her head

"No worries, sweetheart. Let's go" Carolyn smiled and drove off, being careful with bumps in the road for the girl's hip

They had finally arrived at the hospital and Derek helped her out of the car. He had his arm wrapped around her waist as he carefully helped her walk inside. Her hand was resting on her stomach as she limped inside

"Ms Grey?" A nurse called out for them after a few minutes waiting in the waiting room

"Yes!" Derek spoke up and helped Meredith get up. He noticed the pained expression on her face but decided to not ask about it now but wait until tonight

He helped Meredith get undressed and onto the table. He held her hand while the doctor started the ultrasound

"Seems like your girl has been doing very well" The doctor smiled "Have you felt her?"

"I have felt a flutter" Meredith nodded her head "But Derek has been unable to feel her yet" She quietly added

"He'll be able to feel her very soon" The OB nodded her head "She's still very small.." The doctor quietly said

"Will that be a problem?" Derek asked, squeezing Meredith's hand

"For now it won't. You'll just need to make sure you eat enough, take the right supplements and rest enough. Your body needs a lot of energy"

"Okay" Meredith nodded her head "Can I go back to work and school?"

"Hmm.." The OB frowned "How are your injuries?"

"They're getting way better" Meredith nodded her head, causing Derek to frown

"I think it would be better to discuss this at our next appointment. I think it's too early" The doctor said "I'm gonna print these pictures for you"

"You wanna go back to school?" Derek frowned

"I wanna go to work. So I can save money for our baby" Meredith stubbornly said as she refused his help to get off the table and change into her clothes again

Mer, I'm working already, you're still healing from your injuries" Derek cupped her head in his hand

"Derek- I need to work" She quietly whispered as she leaned into his touch "I need money to provide us" She whispered

"Mer-" Derek sighed

"These hospital bills are too much, Der. I live at your mom's house, I use water, she makes food.. I need to provide us" Her voice cracked

"Mer- Mom isn't expecting you to pay for those things, you are injured and carrying a baby. I'm helping mom and maybe when you had the baby you can work a few hours a week but I got it sorted out, I just want you to focus on yourself and our little bean" Derek sighed, his hand running over her stomach

"Maybe I should talk to your mom about this" Meredith quietly whispered

"If that's what you want" Derek kissed her lips and wrapped his arm around her waist "Let's go"

He led her to the PEDS ward where his mom was waiting, he wanted to show her the latest pictures but noticed Meredith was slowing down more and more during the short walk

"Are you okay? He quietly asked her

"Of course" She nodded and dragged the left side of her body along

...

"Mer!!" Amelia ran inside "Can I see the pictures again?" The dark haired girl ran inside the living room

"Of course" Meredith smiled and reached for her purse "Here you go" She smiled

"I'm going to work now, will you be fine?" Derek asked as he kissed Meredith's lips

"Yeah. I'll help her with homework first so that's at least done" Meredith smiled

"Thanks. Her grades have gotten so much better" Derek breathed before turning to his sister "Amy, I'm going. Call me or mom if something's up. I love you"

"Love you too" Amy ran over to hug him

"And I love you and our little been as well" Derek kissed Meredith's lips again and then moved over to her stomach

"We love you too" Meredith smiled

"Bye!" Derek walked out of the house

Amelia jumped on the couch with Meredith and the blonde one helped her with homework

Amelia was a nice kid but there have been some issues, mainly after Christopher's death a few years ago. The whole family was hurt and Meredith had tried to help out by taking care of Amelia while Carolyn had some time to grief

"Mer? Is this right?" Amelia pointed at an exercise she wasn't sure if she had it wrong or right

"What do you think?" Meredith asked the girl, wanting her to think for herself first

"I think it's wrong.. Do I need to add it like this?" Amelia started writing something else

"Yes! Perfect" Meredith felt so proud of the girl

"Thank you" Amelia hugged Meredith tightly "I love you"

"I love you too, Amy" Meredith rubbed the girl's back

"I'm so happy you live with us now"

"I'm happy too" Meredith breathed
